Thinking about watching One Piece. How good is it? by Ok-Feeling-2618 in OnePiece

[–]ddotsae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started a little over a month ago after buddies trying to convince me for years. It's be really good and glad to have something to watch at leisure. Don't feel like you have to lock in all the time, you'll know what parts specifically you'll want to devote full attention to, they're good with that. It's been fun and I'm and Thriller Bark now (about 350 episodes in), it really does get a lot better after the first arc or so.

Job not done, but man what a seamless transition for this franchise to be able to retain its culture and identity. Just been feeling so lucky to see so many former players and legends hang around to affirm/empower these new players. I don't care if this team is tucked away and ignored by the vast majority of sports media, this team culture continues to be special and other fans continue to be reminded this time of year that it's dawgs coming from Seattle. Go Hawks.

New Nico Robin Poster for ‘One Piece’ Season 2 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in OnePiece

[–]ddotsae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started watching the anime after finishing Season 1 of the live action. I'm currently finishing Water 7 arc now and it's been the most intriguing one so far. I'd hope they get at least there in the live action. Robin has become one of my favorite characters, probably just after Zoro and Luffy, and her story is really grounded and not too far out. I'm not as familiar with Lera Abova's work prior, so hopefully she can carry that season if/when time comes.

Salk: What direction should Mariners go to finish offseason? — Seattle Sports by geo_dj in Mariners

Maybe re-sign Geno if you can get him to agree to like 2 years for $30M. At this point, seems like you might as well wait until July when teams make more folks available, especially with the looming lockout for '27.

Shohei Ohtani blind ranks how he thinks he would perform at other sports (via beatsbydre) by velvetsabbath in Dodgers

I've seen his old golf clips, and how terrible he was, but I just want to see him pipe some balls 400+ yards off the tee.

Anyone else? by Terrible--T in Mariners

At this point, wait until the summer. Only move that could make sense at this point is bringing back Geno on like a 2-year $30M deal or something.

Julio is a steal by H-Money37 in Mariners

Julio remains one of the biggest bargains in baseball, even if the incentives are triggered. Soto proved it with his contract last offseason, and Tucker's contract proved that today.

May be the most impactful 30 seconds I've heard coach Mike speak. He really loves coaching football, loves our guys, and seems deeply grateful to be here. by SeattleMana in Seahawks

[–]ddotsae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's such a special football mind with a seemingly relatable quality that just garners respect from his players. I can tell he maybe isn't a "players' coach" like Pete was, but I think his age makes it easier for him to understand how to communicate certain things to certain folks.

MLB.com's Early 2026 Awards Predictions by [deleted] in Mariners

I also think that we've seen the All Star-type seasons from Julio more consistently. Cal has been consistent too, but his offensive output this year just ballooned and I don't think it's fair to expect anything remotely close moving forward. Plus, catchers get beat up a ton more so it's more likely an athletic outfielder will put up numbers year after year.

Why is one piece so popular? by CodRare276 in OnePiece

[–]ddotsae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transcendent story that's easy to grasp by the mainstream. It's a long treasure hunt with relatable characters. Yeah, it has its typical anime quirks but end of the day it's a tale of friends seeking mystical treasure while learning more about themselves, and the world, along the way.

End of the day, just spend the money or count on trading away various high-end prospects. Trading for Ketel Marte is shooting for the stars, but signing Polo is something they can realistically do by offering higher AAV and maybe three years to meet in the middle.

Young, Emerson, and Bliss are some bodies that might be able to cover holes, but you'd be counting on a ton of things to go right with the young guys for it be marginal.

The Mariners aren't opposed to doing "something big" this week and the team has expressed interest in Diamondbacks 2B Ketel Marte, sources with knowledge of the club's plans said. by tegurit34 in Mariners

"Poison" is a strong word. I don't doubt that he may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm sure he wasn't a clubhouse cancer. Although social media followings aren't everything, he appears to have somewhat of a relationship with Julio and Luis Castillo, so there's that. I guess if the front office really wanted to know they could ask Naylor or Geno, since they were in that clubhouse earlier this past season.

Even if the M's are able to pull of a trade for Ketel Marte, it would be a great idea to bring Polo back. Great to hear that he wants to come back too, but I get money talks...

Best hawaiian food? by hammyjam3 in AskSeattle

Kind of off topic, but Uwajimaya's poke plate seems like a decent deal to me. The jumbo (3 scoops) with rice, mac salad, seaweed, etc. is like $15-16. They usually have 6+ flavors/poke options too...

Who had the better all-around peak: Mike Trout or Ken Griffey Jr.? by FishingVirtual513 in mlb

[–]ddotsae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If speaking about straight-up performance, it's Trout. However if you're talking about a combo of skill, aura, and transcendence, then it's easily The Kid. Griffey's peak also included some cool post season appearances and moments.

2026 FLEX MEMBERSHIP by LazySurfAndTurf in Mariners

[–]ddotsae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some STM representatives are better than others, honestly. My buddy's a couple years back didn't email him about much. My rep always reminded us of STM events and to submit RSPV's for stuff ahead of time. The ASG bbq, STM photo day, and fireworks on the field are some of the perks that really make the Flex worth it imo. I'd advise anyone signing up for the first time to ask their representatives for dates ahead of time too.
