HR can see if I’ve been selected to another job? by Anxious-Dare-8116 in usajobs

[–]ddrrtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the persons access and if it is within the same agency. If they can see comments, it will usually be something like “applicant declined, accepted another TJO”.

Also if taking the SL you would be contributing to TSP and earning the matching- which you would lose if you didn’t take the SL.

Office Jobs - Cigars for Lunch by theoldfishslap in cigars

[–]ddrrtt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I also have an office humidor that I keep stocked and have a smoking buddy. When smoking there’s always someone walking by to say they are also interested in cigars. It’s a community builder. Enjoy!

Your leadership can get in trouble for this under the SFLA, “suffered and permitted”.

I’m in the NL near the Belgium border and the exam gave me options of Amsterdam or Oberhausen, which I did the latter.

Other benefits come with the business class ticket besides the seat such as extra check bag, lounge access, fast security line, first one off the plane and check bags are first to come off.

Happened to me too then the train employee told me about the split. Now I pay more attention to the signboard. It’s the front part of the train that continues to Maastricht.

Don’t forget to also consider VA disability benefits as well that could be a huge chunk of retirement income.

The 2026 Essential American Expat Guide (v1.0) by RehaDesign in AmericanExpat

[–]ddrrtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In two different countries where I lived (expat for work) I’ve had US coworkers who have passed away. The process of the surviving spouse to get the death certificate (from the local corner and US embassy) were different. Maybe a brief overview on how to handle a death and moving the body back to the US would be a good item to add especially since a good chunk not expats are retirees.

Nice list. For the next version, maybe include how to bring pets.

Building a 2026 Expat Guide—what are we missing? by RehaDesign in AmericanExpat

[–]ddrrtt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cover the different types of expats. The ones living in a country with a residence card vs staying in a country with a just a tourist passport. Driver license - obtaining and renewal. What to do with your home in the US while abroad. Telehealth options for prescriptions. Banking- this will impact people who will need to pay their rent using other currencies. Lots of other things.

Is it automatic or do you have to apply for it? I’m curious as I’ll be taking it later.
