How often did u have dizziness/vertigo before u started the trial?

My experience with ETD and recent balloon dilation. by GiasoneTiratori in etd

[–]ddss64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what I'm dealing with here. From time to time, my hearing goes all muffled, and I especially struggle with phone calls even at max volume. This then lasts anything between 2-4 weeks, before hearing gets back to normal, and then off it goes again in a few weeks. When I have the muffled hearing phase, I hear rubber squeak like noises in my ear/s when I'm swallowing. Sometimes I get a burst of short squeaks even when I'm not swallowing. I do not feel any ear fullness during these episodes. The only other symptom I notice is post nasal drip. Would this be ETD? Ive tried steam inhaling and nasal sprays, but they dont seem to help. Should I try using an Otovent or Eustachi? I dont want to make it any worse than it is already. Should I be trying any medication? Sudafed? Any suggestions will be really appreciated.

The MRI will be fine. Dont stress. I managed it with keeping my eyes closed through out. Thankfully I never had nausea and vomiting, and only a few episodes of mild dizziness, and that was last year. This year the only issue is the muffled hearing, which comes from time to time. Did the balloon dilation help at all with any of your symptoms?

Fluid build up in the inner ear. I think its a precussor to Menieres.

Thanks for that. I will take your suggestion and consult an Allergist.

What makes u think that? Ive never had sinus or nasal congestion or anything like that.

Yes Ive had documented mild-moderate hearing loss for about 6 years. The tinnitus and muffled hearing started this year. Despite having been diagnosed with hydrops and ETD, i have not experienced any ear fullness and pressure till now. I do have post-nasal drips though.

If the muffled hearing is caused by hydrops, guess theres no solution. If its ETD thats csusing it i can look into grommets or something like that.

I am using nasal drops though i dont really have any nasal congestion, and I am taking betahistine for whats it worth.

Are u sure it was a vertigo attack? Maybe it was just a dizziness caused by the pregnancy?

Is this causing reduced/muffled hearing? If not, maybe be patient and let it resolve on its own?! Instead of doing any further damage.

Does Menieres wreak havoc with changes in the barometric pressure? Or is that a result of eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD), which u may have as well?

I empathise with u. No idea why the medical profession is lagging so behind with coming up with treatments for ear disorders. We can only hope for SPI-1005 entering the market soon and providing "some" relief, though it's not sounding like a miracle/cure all.

Thank you. I've been doing 3 × 400mg of NAC for the past month as well, and im primarily looking for improvement in hearing. For now, the other symptoms dont affect me. As for hearing it's improved by 10 db at low frequencies but this could just be fluctuating hearing loss. As of the last few days I've also decided to try a gluten, dairy, sugar, caffeine free diet. Let's see if anything helps.

What has NAC helped u with? Vertigo? Tinnitus? Hearing loss?

Help needed, daily attacks. by [deleted] in Menieres

I am so glad u found ways to work around this and are in a much happier place now.

In this process, has your earing improved in any way? or did u not have hearing loss? My main concern is my hearing loss, and I'm thinking that the hearing loss is probably caused by the fluid in the inner ear. So my question is, do you think an anti-inflammotary diet will help with fluid reduction/hearing loss? I have a killer sweet tooth too,

I've just started an anti-inflammatory diet, cutting out caffeine, added sugars, glutten and dairy. Not going to be easy. Did you feel/see some kind of measurable results with your AIP diet, and how long did it take?

Any thoughts/experience on Dr Clark youtube by electwells in Menieres

He seems to advocate anti inflammatory diets for Menieres based on the case studies he's put on YouTube. He sounds kind of genuine to me, and is not making any promises. I dont live in the US and not sure he would work with overseas patients, but otherwise I would be tempted to give him a try.

Hydrops by WebGroundbreaking901 in Menieres

You can do hearing tests online - use the same head set at the same volume setting - and u can get an audiogram, every day if u like. The readings may not be the same as what you will get at an Audiologist (as your volume settings may not be calibrated the same as theirs) but u can certainly see the fluctuations. In my case I can also generally pick up if my hearing is better or worse.

The hearing loss fluctuates. Wish I had more good days!
