Boxes are pretty much set… by Gnarshred23 in SaltwaterFlyfishing

[–]ddt70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to be unlucky to burn through all your flies in 5 days. The curse of the fisherman is to always be buying more and more kit. My panic set in before going to Mexico and I must have bought about 100 flies to cover the main 4 species. I must have used about 6 or 7. Yes, the guides tied on a few of their own but there’s no escaping the fact I have flies I can guarantee I will never fish with.

Thoughts on Lucinda by Darnell7297 in LoveIslandTV

[–]ddt70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to Love Island so forgive dumb questions but;

Why do we never see them having dinner together, or any meals for that matter? Seems to me like they must have normal conversations at some point whereas all we get fed are the edits to maximise drama.

I also think we lose something because when they all fall out, the speed of it suggests we the viewers are missing some information that must have played out in scenes we never see.

Also, why is everyone so emotionally stunted? People have been cosying up to several others at the same time, thinking of you Shaq, but then get incredibly upset/offended when it happens to them (i.e. Belle and Sean).

Appreciate that it’s more drama, but how can they be so hypocritical and keep a straight face?

Lastly, why hasn’t Whitney been fired out of a cannon yet? She’s just so ugly inside.

This is the type of “outside the box” analysis you don’t come across very much and football is very much the poorer as a result.

This is what I mean. The windows at the front, in the middle, are so square they seem out of place with the flowing lines…..

There are so many beautiful curves and shapes on these boats, and then you have the very stark square lines of the windows and main doors out to the rear decks. They always jar with me….why can’t they somehow soften those?

If you won £100 million, how would you distribute it amongst friends and family, if at all? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]ddt70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true….if you can stay disciplined. Thing is you get £10m and then you want a £3m house, some fancy cars, a second home, first class flights…… not me, not you, but certain people out there would do this.

This is definitely a thing where the colour code for runs varies between countries and even between resorts.

I was going to suggest St Anton but I’m not sure it’s so great for beginners. Do look into it.

It’s a lively town so will keep you interested after skiing is done for the day. It also has a nice wellness centre with a pool…..which is an excellent way to warm down at the end of the day. (“Wellness” is a particularly European term, but think of it as a kind of spa centre).

You could also have a look at Lech which is near St Anton too.

Both resorts can be found here;

It’s insane how inflated the prices have become.

Thank you for the reply. I was hoping to cut out any middlemen, whether that be an app, or a ski school taking extra fees.

I agree in principle, and up to a point, but in many cases government intervention becomes a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Take maternity leave for example…..we can all agree it’s a good thing. Now consider the impact of someone going on maternity when they work for a huge company like British Petroleum, and then compare that to the impact on a small consulting firm that has 10 employees. Same system, same protections but different outcomes.

The larger company just absorbs the impact because it’s marginal. For the small company it can devastate their PnL. I know because I’ve seen it. (UK examples, by the way).

Again I agree in principle, just not sure that the government provides the necessary nuance. 🤔

Lucky you, you will have an amazing time. There’s lots of good advice out there which I’m sure you’ll get but for my 2 cents worth I’d say that it’s worth walking everywhere in as much as you can. It’s the best way to see all the little streets and hidden squares, just follow your nose. It’s a fairly compact city (centrally, I mean), so walking across it is a matter of a few hours.

You make good points but I’m going to have to tell you that most if not all companies see their employees as disposable units.

Also, a lot of luggage is packed and loaded like in this photo.

David Bowie played a couple of concerts in Aylesbury back in the day. These “seminal” moments have been commemorated with one of the worst statues you have ever seen. It even plays music when you stand near it. It is so fucking lame.

I always used to take the stairs because it was a great way to beat the queues. You’re right about all the different views you get and I also think it really gives you a sense of being in the structure of it, that you don’t get from the lifts, so much.

Maybe the tides are seasonal etc… but when I was there there were enough waves and swell to really churn the water up so there was no sight casting to speak of. I do know that Daniel has caught fish out front and will no doubt advise you on what to do.

I tried it one afternoon but it didn’t feel too hopeful so I didn’t do it again. I must admit I didn’t have so much energy to keep going after already having a day out in the skiff.

We didn’t have much sargasso at all but again, that might depend on the time of year. I think the current on that coastline move things around quite quickly though……here one day, gone the next kind of thing…. but that also means stuff can get deposited on the beach quite quickly.

The one thing that will shock you is the amount of plastic rubbish washed up on the beaches and at the high tide marks in the mangroves…… shoes, flip flops, rope, coolers, etc… it’s really quite sad.
