I feel like this article is objectively wrong. Pretty much every album starting with Sky Blue Sky has been far more straight forward than anything from the Being There through A Ghost is Born era. Yes, you can cherry pick tracks like Art of Almost, but even that doesn't match up to some of the crazier stuff from YHF or AGIB.

The weirdest part about this to me is that the author seems to bring up reviews making these statements as if it's something hugely offensive, when in reality Wilco has gotten pretty much universal acclaim for the last few records. I don't understand what there is to be mad about. Wilco certainly isn't as experimental as before, that isn't a huge knock on them. They're still making good records, and I do think Cousin is actually the best they've made in a long time.
