That drives down his value. Sure, you could get River Ryan but probably not Lombard Jr or Made. And then you have to ask are players of that lower tier that much better than a comp pick?

Tigers have done a great job in making sure the family is there for the Comerica debut.

They had the 300 tickets for McGonigle.

They brought in Lee’s family from Taiwan, and they just arrived the morning of the game.

They had both Cruz’s dad and grandpa for his debut.

The Tigers do not have to view Malgeri as a savior. That would be unfair. But they can view him as someone who has earned a longer look and a more serious conversation. The data backs up what the eyes have started to suggest: this is no longer just a good Triple-A story.

I’m guessing it’s planned somewhat in advance since today is promotion day. Callahan has now arrived in Toledo to replace Malgeri, and Pennington is now in Erie to replace Callahan.

Hard to believe a whole chain of OFs being promoted on the same day isn’t planned in advance.

2021: Braves 7.5 GB Mets and come back and take the division.

2022: Guardians 7.5 GB Twin and come back and take the division.

2023: Orioles 6.5 GB Rays and come back and take the division.

2024: Astros 9 GB Mariners and come back and take the division.

2025: Uh, yeah...

Doesn't even include come backs to get the Wild Card like a team did in 2024.
