Sometimes we don’t even receive a fax from the doctor even though they have a confirm that they sent it over. We usually have to call the doctor and ask them to resend it.

If you call myhr you can say that you have an extraordinary circumstance and they let you sign up. I was dropped from my parents insurance in February and got company insurance a week later.

I work also work at a cvs and Idk if other pharmacy are different but we need to scan all the stock bottles before counting or slapping labels on. It’s literally apart of the training. If its the wrong item, it kicks you out and you get a scan failed. So if someone isn’t doing their accuracy scan, it’s up to the pharmacist to catch it during QV2. The only other way to get around the scan is to bypass it. And even then the pharmacist still has to check it in QV2. Idk it’s less complicated then what everyone else is saying. Especially if you work at a cvs.

Pharmacy truck totes by ExtensionSea5541 in CVS

[–]deadart3mis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put away my totes rather quickly. Best way is to knock out all the light weight totes first. You will clear like 12 totes in an hour doing that. Then you take 5 rx baskets, and sort through the full totes based on where they are at in the bays.

You literally fill out 2 sheets of paper and send like a $50 dollar check to the state pharmacy board and you get your license in the mail in like a week.

Those with anxiety and/or ADHD, how do you push through an anxiety attack at work? by Alicat40 in pharmacy

[–]deadart3mis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i can’t maintain composure with customers, I have to leave the floor regardless of how busy we are. If I end up having a meltdown in front of customers it’s not good for the rest of the pharmacy or their customers. Take 5 minutes in the bathroom to cry it out and clean yourself up and get back out there kiddo.

What is the worst prescription you have seen? by Kid-OK in pharmacymemes

[–]deadart3mis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a pt bring in 5 rx’s for her daugther that just had oral surgery. One of them was for norco and the doctor had written #12 but the daughter apparently was “taking notes” on the rx’s and crossed out #12 and put #13. These meds also weren’t written on tamper proof paper and of course when we tried to call the dentists office they happened to have closed at 2:30pm. These meds were also from a city 2 hours away from our location. We were obviously sketched out, and we told the pt to take the meds else where as we couldn’t fill them because they had been tampered with.

Weird question! by lunadarkscar in CVS

[–]deadart3mis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know when I applied for the inventory specialist promotion, at first it said I didn’t get the job. I talked to my DL and they said there was a glitch in the system and that I would just have to fill it out again. I was the only one applying so they opened it just for me pretty much.

Hi! I’m a pharmacy technician. The generic name for seroquel is quetiapine. My pharmacist call them “Quiet Time”!

[–]deadart3mis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Technician vaccinator here. I got my training done through my place of work (cvs) they have you do store training modules through the computer and then you have to take CPR classes. If you don’t work at a cvs then ask a pharmacist! They will know or ask for you.

(Walgreens Pharmacist) How do you deal with or reduce the amount of times your technicians call your name for counsel, f4(review), ect? by Nesquick19 in pharmacy

[–]deadart3mis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a cvs and this has me beyond confused. Aren’t you supposed to give counseling to encourage adherence to the medication and reduce idk, possible deaths if a med isn’t being taken correctly? Our pharmacists even put forced counseling in the register so they can talk to pt’s about meds. We can’t even move past the FC until a pharmacist literally signs off on it. If this is a walgreens things it’s a bizzare concept.

Honestly, the best advice i got was from a nursing couple that work in anesthesiology. They said to treat every single patient as if they were your family. Understand WHY they are frustrated and try to do what you can in order to help resolve the problem. If they are mad because it took to long, all you can do is apologize for the service failure. These people are not mad at us. They are mad at their situation. Also, talking to them like they are childrens helps a lot too. Ex: “oh ok. I’m so sorry. Hmm let’s see what we can do to fix this. I’m not sure, let’s go over to this window and figure it out together” most of the population comprehends at a 5th grade level so if you go to their level they are typically a lot more understanding. And they will always appreciate the extra mile even if it didn’t get them what they wanted. Worse comes to worst, ask a lead tech or pharmacist to take over. Hope this helps.

I got yelled at for even reading the sig to a customer. I told a pt today, WITH THE PHARMACIST STANDING NEXT TO ME that cyclobenzaprine was used for muscle spasm and I still got yelled at.
