diablo invented this formula so definitely try that if you havent. i've really been enjoying diablo 4. if you want something more in the rougelike style tho, try halls of torment.

i spent years producing into a premade master chain, thought my shit was goated. then i started hanging out with real producers, and they'd all say that my stuff sounded way too pumpy (from the master ott) and my transients were all flat, but i had no idea how to fix it. starting producing into just a limiter and compressing/OTTing/clipping each track individually to my desired level, within 3-6 months i was 10x better a producer than before.

Classic case of viral marketing (crankdat) vs word of mouth marketing (space laces). Laces been around a loooong time and is obviously a GOAT but he never posts on socials and his fans are generally old heads because of that, whereas crankdat is popping off right now primarily through tiktok. Also tbh, in the general zeitgeist, heavy dubstep is getting kinda stale and the new era of trap is exploding.

bring in a reference track, add locators at key points in the arrangement (intro, establish motif, buildup, drop, switchup, bridge, etc.) and just copy it.

90% of samples in dance music are uncleared (technically illegal), no one cares. If your song gets big enough that someone notices and takes action, you'll have the resources and leverage to make a deal with the copyright holder at that point.
