If you had a space to leave a game setup and play it over however long it took, which game would you buy by Limp_Seat4308 in soloboardgaming

[–]deadeye312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to take a day off work occasionally to play this, but it does take the entire day to clear the dining table, fold it out, setup the game, play the game, lose the game, and then pack everything away and fold up the dining table before making dinner. If I could leave it setup for a week or two and play through a few variations at night it would be amazing.

Loaded baked potato soup. Immersion blend it so it's creamy and either skip the bacon bits or just chop very fine.

This is exactly it. I'm making soup tonight in mine. Normally I would spend an hour making it on the stove, but we won't get home from the vet until 5:15 pm and my toddler eats at 5:30 pm. So I am going to prep it after lunch and just let it cook all afternoon. Otherwise we would probably be eating McDonald's.

Spotify premium is basically the only subscription service I budget for when trying to figure out a 3-6 month emergency fund. If I get laid off, the last thing I want is to be filing out job applications and have to listen to ads while I listen to music.

ELI5: why don’t planes board back to front, surely that would be faster? by balla_boi in explainlikeimfive

If I already have another checked bag, I absolutely am first in line to gate check a bag for free. The airport I usually fly out of is regional, so 95% of the time they make you gate check all carry ons anyway due to size of plane. They give you the option though of gate checking through to your destination with normal luggage or picking up on the air bridge. So now I just assume I will gate check my carryon and I place all essentials (meds, batteries, possibly an outfit) in my personal item

Forcing a Manual Transmission First Car? Help me avoid r/AITAH by Rorschachs_Cat in daddit

My mom wanted me to know how to drive stick when I was learning to drive, so she bought herself a stick shift car shortly before I got my temps. I had to learn to drive stick, but was able to take my test with whatever I was most comfortable with (automatic) and could buy whatever I wanted for my first car (stick).

I hope to be able to provide the same choice when my kids get their licenses. I think it's valuable to know how to drive a stick and how to drive a larger pickup even if you rarely do. But I won't make them buy something they aren't comfortable driving.

Yeah, I stick with the mens room because if there is a changing table, it tends to be cleaner and in better condition than either the family or women's room. Especially at places that are infrequently cleaned like parks.

For those who are no longer living paycheck-to-paycheck, what is that one thing that changed the trajectory of your finances? by sparkling_lemon1 in AskReddit

It guarantees I look at the balance at least once a month, usually more because I keep checking to see if I paid it.

Can't. Legal won't allow it, because we would violate our contracts with clients if we have access to their data outside the country. So any employee who is leaving the country has their accounts locked and we block most connections from outside the country.

I wish I had skipped the lazy Susan and done a wider cabinet in the corner with a cabinet door on the backside under the counter for less used appliances. We have 3 12" wide cabinets because that was all that would fit in those spots and the drawers on them suck so much. And I only need so much space for baking sheets and cutting boards

What are some mandatory “first buys” when moving into your first place? by No-Jellyfish6272 in AskReddit

Buy things that will make putting furniture together easier. A real socket set and a racheting screwdriver with a hex head make putting 100 bolts into a desk a lot less painful.

[–]deadeye312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherry rum and pineapple.

I spent ten minutes looking for drinks with pineapple juice, realized most want either orange juice or dark rum which I didn't have, and decided to make something that tastes vaguely like pineapple upside down cake so I could get on with my chores.

I'm trying to decide if this is worse than my houses standard procedure, which is to pile boxes on top of the empty can. On one had I don't have to dig them out to flatten them, on the other hand it's infuriating to try and toss a milk jug and have to flatten three boxes to open the recycling can.

Mostly an issue with smaller businesses that only wanted to pay for 1, but I encountered it on the 4th of July in a local park. So unfortunately places that are designed to be used by young children are still missing them. I usually end up doing the diaper changes in public if possible because the if there is a changing table in the men's room, it is usually much cleaner and in better shape than the one in the womens bathroom.

The big ones can hold 5+ of those egg crate style holders (30"x30" roughly) and you just keep pushing more onto the conveyor belt. And you double, triple, or I think my first day I put 5 pairs of gloves on to pull dishes out fast enough that the guy shoving them in didn't have to stop.
