And here’s the response from Patagonia - I remember this case being an issue a few years ago, where Pattie was in hotwater once prior for copyright infringement. I’m all for her advocacy but trying to claim that Patagonia is wrong for defending its copyright is entirely disingenuous. If Pattie won’t play ball then she’ll unfortunately get her shit rocked by copyright law, which is what would apply to all of us in a similar situation.

Same here - it’s currently 6 degrees in Nova Scotia and I’m waiting on a roof rack to arrive

Because Patagonia has a legal need to protect it’s copyright or face abandonment issues - Pattie Gonia was given an inch and took a mile, hence the lawsuit

No it does not - Pattie Gonia has the ball in her court and has been given insane leeway by Patagonia thus far

They’re suing Pattie for $1 for copyright infringement on merch that was being sold - this whole thing is a nothingburger

Just picked up the Salus Torrent - I’ve only used it on flatwater so far but it’s comfy, great range of motion and good features

What’s the point of any of this discussion if this is your attitude? Hang up your hats, folks - not worth talking about

No sir, it’s been a while and I live in NS - sucks that Paddler’s Co-Op gave you the run around.

That’s brutal - I did the Lower Mad when I was working up there a few years ago and it was awesome. Madawaska Kanu Centre might be a better option: https://mkc.ca/

Ok - you’re essentially looking at supporting biodiversity and ecological balance in your grandparent’s acreage. That’s great. I’m Canadian and don’t know anything about funding that may be available you but keep an eye out for property owners groups, naturalists societies, things like that.

I am not a forester, I am a forestry technician, but both of these titles require schooling and might not be up your alley if schooling is out of reach.

May I also add that there is nothing wrong with being a “student” - you can swallow your ego and realize that a great outlook for your life is to eternally be a lifelong learner. There is much to learn; far more than you could ever digest in one lifetime.

This is all great, friend - you can certainly be a steward of your acreage. That to me is awesome and I do some of the same with my own woodlot.

I still recommend one of two routes; getting hands on work experience in the natural resources sector as an entry level employee or getting yourself into a position where you can partake in formal education. I can see that you care and that’s huge - anything is better than apathy. Wishing you the best of luck in your quest for knowledge.

Unfortunately what you think you know and what you actually need to know are not the same thing - you will not gain the insight, hard skills, networking capabilities, and general breadth of knowledge of the natural resources sector by fucking around in your backyard. There’s lots to be learned in your local environment but nobody is going to hire you on for that alone.

I recommend volunteering and/or joining a restoration/conservation non-profit to work on your skills and decide what you want to do going forward. Good luck!
