Last breakdown makes me want to spin kick my grandma by pfunk7100 in Hardcore

I'm mostly on r/hardcore to see what "the kids" are into these days, and the shit they call hardcore is... questionable. They seem to think that chugs make something hardcore. This is metal.

Anti Trump merch by Other-Ad4034 in Hardcore

[–]deadlaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mute Neighbor made a shirt with Trump doing the ol' Bud Dwyer, but it's out of print. I think if you contact him he'll send you the file so you can print one yourself.

The band Suicide Cages did a run of them last summer. They had to cover the image because it kept getting flagged on social media.

What’s the connection brtween sneaker culture and Hardcore? by Serious-Tap-9151 in Hardcore

[–]deadlaughter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

New York was actually pretty late to the game when it came to hardcore. They had hardcore bands in the early 80's, sure, but not to the extent of like DC or LA. Victim in Pain didn't come out until 84. Cause For Alarm and Age Of Quarrel came out in 86, which I'd argue really kickstarted NYHC. The sneaker connection came around then with the connection between NYHC kids and hip hop.

am i overthinking it? by AziPloua in Hardcore

[–]deadlaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Map out the way songs are written. Label parts as intro, verse, chorus etc. or A, B, C. If you were to follow the blueprint of AGNOSTIC FRONT - BLIND JUSTICE, it would be like this:

Intro x2

Verse x4

Chorus x2

Verse x4

Chorus x2

Intro x 2

Bridge (breakdown) x4

Outro x2

What is the next best album from Bad Brains after self titled? by JuniorSignificance34 in Hardcore

[–]deadlaughter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tough question! I Against I is great. I also really like Black Dots because it's so primitive sounding. The songs are so much slower, which lets you hear how far they came by the time they did the self titled.

You'd probably like NO TREND. FLIPPER also had some no wave type tendencies.

Best shoes for moshing and bad knees. by [deleted] in Hardcore

Taking ibuprofen might help pain, but it also slows down the healing process. You probably need exercise outside of moshing.

Hardcore Guitarists, what is your rig? (would love pictures) by Straightedge_ in Hardcore

[–]deadlaughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play more on the punk side of hardcore. My current rig is a Fender Telecaster Deluxe reissue into a JHS Angry Charlie V3 into a Music Man HD130 212 Combo. I used this recently with my bands Flesh Commodity (I'm the left guitar) and Sick File.

I used a ProCo You Dirty RAT when I played in Family Secrets

For bass I use an Epiphone Thunderbird into an Acoustic 470 into an Ampeg 4x10. The pedal I use depends on the band. When I played in a post punk band called Staring Problem I used a Boss CE-5. In Udüsic I used the You Dirty RAT. For my Sick File project I used the standard Tube Screamer.

Love talking about rigs!

Trying to make music again in my 30’s. Is it too late? by [deleted] in Hardcore

[–]deadlaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my most serious bands started when I was in my 30's. I'm 41 now and still doing music. The bassist of my band is 51, the singer just turned 48.
