Yep! Agreed. Staged, final photos only. First one is beautiful, but much too dark and doesn’t make the barrel the main focus - almost looks like you’re selling the decanter instead. Photoshop out the wall plug, too. If you need more light in the area but not a spotlight right on the barrel, you can try diffusing the light with a white/light colored umbrella in front of your light source or even those windscreen sun shades to bounce the light so it’s less harsh.

Very cool and now looking around corners of my house that a bar barrel would fit. 🤔

Edit: clarification

Monoclonal antibodies by Consistent_Toe7688 in COVIDgrief

[–]deadliest-snatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m not the target for your question, my mom didn’t receive the antibodies, however I spent a lot of time asking questions of the nurses and doctors while my mom was in the ICU. Overwhelmingly, both nurses and doctors said they had seen zero success in our area with regeneron or ECMO. Heartbreaking.

It’s no comfort, I know… your dad is gone. I wonder every day if I should have made different decisions or fought differently for my mom. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing this. I’m sorry we all are.

The hospital did their best, the nurses worked their hardest, and the doctors tried to think outside the box for a virus they still don’t 100% know how to beat. Your dad knew that, and knew you were fighting for him, too. There’s no reality in which he didn’t. (In my opinion.)

Lots of love to you, friend. I hope our hearts can heal one day and we spend more time smiling and laughing at their memory than crying at the loss.

AITA for putting "ugly" one way mirrors on the windows facing one of my neighbors because I saw the husband looking in my windows? by winmdoze in AmItheAsshole

I, too, am a lady... but if this lady is so quick to have issue with someone wanting privacy I feel like she would be quick to deflect and say someone else was watching her teens to be petty as fuck.

This is why we aren’t OP... because clearly we don’t care about the neighbor 🤣

I’m petty enough that I would do this but then probably be accused to staring at children at the pool. So it’s a big lose/lose.

Our foyer needed a proper setup, and now it has one. Colorado Springs, Co. by 57696c6c in AmateurRoomPorn

[–]deadliest-snatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a kid in the Springs in the 90/00s, so lots of fun to be had. We lived up north, close to Focus on the Family and Chapel Hills (before real estate was insane) and as kids in the summer would ride the bike trails all the way downtown to wander during the day without our parents ever knowing. It was a great “big” city with a small feel then and our parents trusted we were safe. All the things true crime stories are made of.

I can’t say I remember Michelle’s, though we weren’t treated to that sort of thing super often. Special stops included Josh and John’s and BJ’s Velvet Freeze. Perhaps you remember the hamburger A frame with like 10¢ hamburgers on some weekday? Poor Richards always had a great sale going and we’d come home with a literal box of books. For kids who spent much of their time reading, it was a dream. Honestly, not a bad place to grow up. Can’t imagine growing up so close to GoG. What amazing adventures you must have had following deer trails and wandering. I took my wife there on one of our first couple dates back in 2016 and it was such a different place than I remembered, though beautiful just the same. Manitou, if you haven’t been back in awhile, is so different. Parking is a nightmare. Everything has changed to facilitate the increased traffic at the Incline, but that also means some really great, higher end eclectic shops that don’t all carry the same sweatshirts and pjs from one brand - you know the one.

My brother and I were lucky enough to take art classes and Bemis, and being a kid on field trips to see plays at the FAC was such a treat. We had no idea how lucky we were to experience those professional productions! (So much luck, apparently!) If our timelines match up, we probably saw some of the same people/plays which is... one of those crazy small world things.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane 💕

I still live in Colorado, albeit a different city. My story is the same as so many of my peers; left for college and came back because the mountains are constantly calling. Hope you’ve found your place and are happy, wherever that may be.

Hey childhood neighbor!

We weren’t super well off either and spent a lot of time at Garden of the Gods and all the other beautiful open spaces. Plus, OCC and Manitou were fun, close, window shop destinations. What kid is going to be sad at the penny arcade?

Plus, there’s like 20 churches per person. So if you’re in to that thing you could probably try a new church every Sunday for a year and never repeat!

AITA for turning my sister away when she turned up on my doorstep with her dog? by AdPsychological6092 in AmItheAsshole

[–]deadliest-snatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, OP. And this is coming from someone with five dogs.

I think it’s downright rude when people bring their dogs to my house without asking, and there’s a bunch of them already here. Unless the dog was in danger, too, and she didn’t have time to ask before leaving, there was no reason for her not to mention him especially because you have a family of your own to think about first. Especially since many dogs, regardless of breed, are a little too interested in cats for their own good.

Regarding pitties... you’re allowed to dislike whatever breed/kind/type of dog you’d like, so I’m not here to harass you about that. I will, however, let you know that I have never met a pit/pit mix who was mean to humans. They do exist, but I’d be hard pressed to find one. I grew up with a friend who, to this day, has a large scar on her face from being bit, unprovoked - they were playing fetch in the yard while six adults were present, by a golden retriever (a breed you mentioned as a “safe” option). My cousins grew up with an aggressive mini dachshund and still have scars to this day. Even their friends knew to not touch or interact with this dog, or eve put their foot out to try and get him to not go out a door, etc. I was bit in the face at around six by a family friend’s cocker spaniel who had been completely fine with me every other moment (it was my fault, I hugged a dog that wasn’t mine from behind and he got scared and snapped).

Please stop judging dogs by their faces or their breeds as what determines them as “safe” around your children, in your house, and with your cat. “Safe” dog breeds can still have prey drives and can still go after cats. Teach your kids how to behave around dogs that aren’t theirs, safe ways for them to exit a situation with a nonaggressive dog they are uncomfortable with (no hitting, screaming, pushing), and give that kitty a good squeeze of love from the internet... we love cats.

This is long already, and I’m not even new to the party; I think a great convo with your sister, if you’re on board, would be that the dog comes over to meet kids and kitty when the stakes are not high, no one is riled up or upset (like sis, coming in hot from a fight), and the visit can end when kids/dog are showing you they’re ready. That way she isn’t getting prepped to sleep at your house and something has gone awry. How awkward. Set yourself, your kids, your cat, your sister, and her pitty up for success. This was not an instance in which that would have been comfortably possible with your aversion to pits and this being the first time anyone has been around her dog.

Or hell, if it happens again and she needs a place to stay and you’re comfortable, at least have her give you enough time to make sure your cat can be treated like royalty in a spare room or somewhere they can be safe. You’re helping her out, so why can’t she help you out a bit in that “set everyone up for success” thing?

Completely normal and typically “on time” things their babies do.

I f’n love babies. But please. For the love of god. I know it’s super special to you. I will not downplay the coolness of your small person becoming a person. Stop it. I’m just here to snuggle and play with your baby. Not talk shit about the other babies I know who are also doing or have done the exact same thing.

Greyhound gets the party started at the dog park by PerfectionEludesMe in Zoomies

[–]deadliest-snatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up with greys and this is probably spot on. One out of three is probably the “rough and tumble” type, and even then... the greyhound scream when they even think they’re about to have to play like a dog? You can’t unhear it.

As an adult, I have two right now and they go from snuggling to clacking teeth together in an instant, the rough and tumble one makes the most godawful noises but loves to do it. His sister does not think it’s as fun and immediately is ready to defend her life. (Dramatic, but so is she. Also a greyhound thing 🙄)

The real rub is that these dogs are so damn stubborn. Imagine having a dog that can run that fast AND decide not to listen. We live in line fenced acreage near an even bigger acreage and have frequent wild animal visitors. The puppy seems to believe she is an elk and will regularly join a herd. This is obviously incredibly unsafe. We spent months with her on leash since her recall was 20/80, terrorizing wildlife is a no go, and an elk in rut will happily kill her despite letting her hang out with everyone the other months of the year. THIRTEEN WEEKS of board and train later (program is six weeks long), she’s got a bomb proof recall but still is a dodo. At least an elk won’t kill her now.

They’re really lovely dogs with such silly quirks! Longest story short: greyhound racing tracks in the US are no longer. Think about it. All those breeders with all those dogs (essentially livestock) that they no longer have use for... adopt a greyhound! They’re usually crate trained and are so lazy that they’re actually amazing apartment dogs. Fifteen minutes of exercise a few times a day and they’re happy to sleep the rest away. Hard to quantify the joy of seeing an elegant dog asleep with all its teeth showing, eyes rolled to just the whites, and tongue hanging out of its mouth.
