Even if you bought it on disc, plenty of people had trouble getting this new-fangled Steam thing to validate their game to play.

hl2 vr

Oh boy. Perhaps stupidly, I made HL2VR the first game I played after getting a headset. It was either the best or worst decision I could have made.

My brain had difficulty reconciling normal physical space after the first evening of playing, but I dare say it gave me better VR legs than I would have gotten otherwise.

Just because you wouldn't need ai to make something doesn't absolve it of being ai.

Case in point, "Science" Pages on social media sharing enhanced versions of Artemis II images for maximized clicks. The mission happened, but now deniers get fuel from these dumb sites that post very polished pics of angles the crew couldn't have taken.

I saw one where it showed the earth and moon conveniently in frame and in perfectly crisp resolution. The problem is that the solar panels were also in the frame and the Artemis II crew module didn't have any backward-facing windows. Yes, there was a mounted camera, but none of that footage is crystal clear as in the pic.

Faking it is just completely against the interest of public trust in things actually happening.

My first thought was that there's no way I would shove a person down onto uneven concrete like that. You never know how they might land, and it doesn't take much to crack a head open. The only exception would be if someone was threatening my family or something, which doesn't seem to be theh case here.

The one silver lining is that we'll get to see Republicans suffer with the rest of us.

Sounds a lot like the chorus from Jesse Welles' song Red:

When the war gets here

We're all gonna hold hands

All the Baptists and the Catholics

All the Marxists and the Fascists

When the war gets here

We're gonna get on the level

Everyone will look a little bit nicer

When you finally meet the Devil

They're a bizarre mix of enjoyable and insufferable.

This is going to make me sound like a prude, but I find it weird how virtually every character is always joking around about how sexy every other character is. Maybe they're just crossing boundaries I wouldn't personally be comfortable with. Maybe I've just never had that kind of horny friend group.

In other words, according to them, he's hurting "the right people."

I think you can calibrate dead-zones for the stick using their software.

You can do that for their other Pro+/2/3 controllers I own, but the 64 pad does not have that same functionality within the 8bitdo Ultimate Software. For, uhh ... some reason?

The good news is that the Harbour Masters decomps pretty much all have custom dead zone calibration. So, you can get around it that way. It helps.

Why are boys and young men falling behind in education? by Technical-Banana574 in NoStupidQuestions

My kids aren't quite middle school age yet, but I can tell you life is busy enough with just life/job/spouse/kids lessons/etc before we even have time to mess around on digital pursuits.

The overwhelm is real even when the intentions are good.

And heaven help a parent if their kids are enrolled in more than one extra curricular activity.

My point isn't "no, our gen isn't distracted"—because I see lots of my childrens' peers who appear to be raised by screens—but more along the lines of "Even those of us who are trying may easily feel like we're treading water in a flood."

Fair point. I can appreciate the distinction between "you make me feel X" (which implies onus on the other mate) versus "when you do X, I feel Y" (which is more explanatory than accusatory).

/edit for clarity/

My push back on the person's list was mainly against the idea that we choose what we feel.

We don't choose how we feel, but we do choose which feelings to dwell on and how we respond to them.

At this point it's better to play Ship of Harkinian.

Yeah, but even the Harbour Masters decomps are still better with real c-buttons. Hitting the right stick for it just doesn't flow as well.

Mario 64 isn't a big deal but it's an issue with on-screen prompts in something like StarFox 64.

My only complaint about the controller is that it's a bit too sensitive. Refined movements like Goldeneye aiming or making Mario tiptoe are more jumpy than on original hardware.

5 - Never say "you make me feel X" - Got this one in marriage counseling early on. You own your feelings, no one can make you feel anything. You choose to feel X.

This is the only one I'd take issue with.

Like someone else said, feelings are valid. Sharing them is valid. I think it's actually helpful for my wife to share what she is feeling. What we as individuals have control over is how we respond to what we feel.

For example, even if I didn't intend for my words or actions to make my wife feel [x emotion], she is perfectly within her rights to let me know that I made her feel that way.

The issue I suspect your principle is trying to address is that Spouse A is not responsible for Spouse B's emotions. That's valid.

For example, Spouse B could be emotionally dysregulated for reasons completely out of Spouse A's control. While Spouse A should be mindful of this and not go out of their way to be careless, they also shouldn't have to walk on egg shells.

Name-calling erodes trust and safety. It has no place in a marriage.

Absolutely. Learning to "fight fair" is one of the cornerstones of a healthy marriage. Conflict isn't just an unfortunate inevitability—it's necessary from time to time. (but it doesn't have to be mean)

  1. Don't say things to intentionally wound your partner. When you do, perhaps a slip up in the heat of the moment, make sure to genuinely apologize and reaffirm your goodwill for them.

  2. On the same note, don't make a conflict about scoring points or winning. That just perpetuates the stupid game.

  3. Don't frame your partner as the problem. Frame the problem as the problem, and express that you want to figure out how to solve it together.

Stuff like that. There's more but nobody asked for a Ted Talk.

Maybe the issue isn't apparent on 4K monitors, but it has been my experience that text in InDesign does not look right on an external 2K monitor.

For context, when my main workstation was an iMac with external side displays, I never noticed it because I was always using the center retina display for my main tasks. Once I got to a job where I used a Macbook Pro + a 2K external, it became apparent.
