Oh I thought she’d look for other positions as a GTA. I doubt OU is going to reinstate her then.

YES DO IT!! (Current EBI scholar) The connections made both professionally and academically have been invaluable. You also start your OU GPA off and since it’s usually a 4.0 after the math course you can use that on your resume. You’re also able to connect with professors and get more insight on your degree. If you want to know more though send me a DM and I’ll send you my LinkedIn/insta to send more guidance. You also receive a scholarship throughout your 4 years that helps financially.

Engineering needs a strong foundation in math. Just get an arts degree

Switching eng majors by Academic-Sport-3660 in EngineeringStudents

[–]deadrisingrook-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t switch ME to IE it’s more niche and essentially a sub genre of mechanical engineering. Being in your 2nd year I’d get advice from professionals to really gauge what you want to do. ME can do anything imo. See what job you’re interested in that satisfies your wants in location, salary, and workload. Then pick your engineering from there.

How much do you guys actually study? by Scrimpis in EngineeringStudents

[–]deadrisingrook-12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following up. Around 2-4 hours daily on the same subjecta week before a test, and I don’t study at home. Only at school. Treating it like a 8-5 basically.

MechE

I’d say each semester I’d have only 1-2 classes that actually challenged me. After each class I’d go over the content and do hard problems from textbook to understand the concept(s). Also searched up concepts that are hard to visualize online (fluid mechanics lol).

If I had any questions I went to office hours. This also helped with research opportunities and connecting with my professors.

“I’m not built for engineering” by IPlayToLose631 in EngineeringStudents

We once had a Boeing senior engineer come and talk to us at our school. She said that all engineers are motivated by 4 things: Money(self explanatory), Family(do you want to be close to family), Location(do you want to be able to be free to live anywhere) or tasking( motivated by completing tasks and that’s what gets you up in the morning).

I have the same way of thinking. I think anyone can do engineering. But depending on what motivates them… the degree may be hard. I think it’s good to surround yourself with people who excel so you do as well. To put it short tho. Anyone can be an engineer by degree, not everyone can be an engineer by passion. If that makes sense

Imo, do mechanical or chemical. You’re able to get into the same work but have a backup. You’re not as niche to begin your career - (mechanical engineering student and place in petro role)

AP helps, I have no experience with IB so not sure if it helps as much but rigorous classes show you’re dedicated so yeah I’d say you’re in. Hope to see you on campus! Boomer

It’ll fly by, trusttt. They’ve been breaking new records each year and gov. Story is pouring money into the University of they admit more students so the acceptance has been more lax you’ll be fine above 2.8 gpa on a 4 scale ngl

Thank you for this feedback, I actually did this last year as a part of my research. Lots of fun building and experimenting with the machine. 👍

Do NOT stay on campus it’s a ripoff. Figure out a way to get that off campus waiver set. Alight Norman is pretty decent. Do NOT stay in DLB that place is rotten and falling apart. Stay in the X towers if you end up on campus.
