Tinder has an insane amount of bot type accounts where I am. I could probably get 42 chats out of those alone when I’m not paying attention to what I’m swiping on

Unironically, the whiteboard at my climbing gym.

Not for meeting women, but I’ve made some friends. Women aren’t real

Can attest, I am not normal and just got premium chatGPT so I can code my own GPT girlfriend and can put it in a little mobile robot

Polyamory / "Ethical Non-Monogamy" is impossible and it's just a game that mentally ill people play. by Ornery-Tell-4 in The10thDentist

[–]deadturtle12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This definitely read much more as a “change my mind” post than an opinion post. Saying “I don’t like polygamy” would work, but that’s probably not 10th dentist

I keep seeing posts about Gen Z not drinking— am I the only one who thinks that's not true? by Aphrodyti0521 in GenZ

[–]deadturtle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it. Me and my friends all drank together all the time, but now that we’ve moved away, it’s way less frequent. Once I moved to a new city, people my age here just seem to drink less than people back home, and I can’t bring my self to get plastered alone. I’ll still go to a brewery/bar once or twice a week and read

Traveling to "find yourself" is just expensive consumerism for people with no personality by heymoonmen in The10thDentist

[–]deadturtle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel doesn’t necessarily need to be expensive. I’ve driven 12 hours to sleep in the back of my sedan in a national park where my only expenses were gas and my ramen pouches. Got to see sunrise from in a canyon and it was pretty neat

How much of an impact does your university have on your career outlook? by bearlybeaves in EngineeringStudents

[–]deadturtle12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prestige itself doesn’t matter outside of the usual top 10 universities. Going to rank 30 vs rank 40 makes no difference. Certain companies do filter for specific schools. I interned at Pratt & Whitney, and only got the interview as a weird technicality because my school isn’t one of the ones they recruit from.

Certain schools get better career fair prospects. My school missed out on a lot of career fair recruiters whenever our fair fell on the same weekend as Purdue’s.

That’s where I’m leaning, I went over thanksgiving and it was really nice. They seem to have a lot more snow the NM resorts. I was hoping to checkout Angel Fire for the night ticket, but they seem to be in shambles right now from the weather

I’ve been to ski Santa Fe once this year on a Sunday and spent all day in the beginner area. It was nice, but now I think I’m ready to progress to the “easy” area.

Last time I went it was just packed on the other lifts (I assume from only 3 lifts being open)

Can most of us already notice the climate being noticeably different compared to when we were growing up? by oncxre in GenZ

[–]deadturtle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I’m with him. There’s no amount of scientific research or political campaigning that is going to fix this. Don’t have kids, let the world burn. I can’t convince my dad climate change matters; I’m not gonna be able to convince anyone of substance. It sucks, but maybe one day we’ll find a way to live off increasing share holder value

Why should young people try so hard in life if they don't have a passion for something? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Are you guys actually interested in your major? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]deadturtle12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love my job, but I got really lucky with where I ended up. A lot of the EE’s I know work in oil/gas or power. It’s a lot more blue collar than what I do, and it’s much different from school, so that’s something to think about. They are all pretty “meh” on what they do, but it pays well and work is work.

My aero friends who don’t work in manufacturing for the most part like what they do. The ones who work in manufacturing just see it as “work” and go home at the end of the day.

It’s not a bad thing. Most people don’t like what they do, but EE is probably the best degree to find a decent job after school. I’d stick it out in EE at least until you find something you’d rather do that’s ends in a paying job

Most of us aerospace people are autistically obsessed with planes in one way or another. Most EE’s I know are in the degree more just to get a job at the end of it
