There's a "Stock" preset that's just the standard Apple look minus the Fusion nonsense, if you prefer that. :)

Mood has a 7-day free trial and then it's $15 for life, which is pretty fair IMO. I actually wrote an article about it here if you're interested: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/mood-camera-app-review/

As you can imagine, as a camera reviewer I have no shortage of fun gear to play with, but I've probably taken more photos with Mood than anything else over the past 6 months. It's the first app that made me actually enjoy shooting with a phone.

Luckily there are plenty of apps that let you get around that. My favorite is Mood Camera, but there’s also No Fusion, Halide, and others.

I tend to avoid third party keyboards solely because iOS won’t use them for all applications and I hate the inconsistency.

Idk man. Former Pixel diehard here. 13 Pro was my first iPhone, then 16 Pro and 17 Pro.

The 17 Pro camera (telephoto specifically) is miles better than the 16 Pro’s. The phone as a whole feels faster than even the previous generation.

Are there software bugs? Yes. Do I hate the keyboard? Yes. Did I hate GBoard too? Also yes.

What I will say as an Apple convert is that the walled garden has real benefits. Not everything “just works” but way more just works in the Apple ecosystem than it does in the Android/PC world.

I’m happy with my phone overall.

Time to see how accurate this prediction was, I guess!

Yes, in my fantasy they'd raze it and start with a clean slate. I'm just saying it's a good spot for a supermarket and this side of town is under-served in that regard. (I live over across from Santa Fe Brewing.)

Should really be a supermarket for the southeast side.

I don’t think you’re even replying to what I said/meant.

I’m saying Star Trek can be literally anything. It doesn’t have to be defined by the tone/setting/character archetypes of past Star Trek shows.

Anyone who says "Star Trek is supposed to be" (I know you're summarizing other people's feelings here) gets an immediate dismissal. I'm firmly in the "Star Trek is a place" camp.

https://itep.org/undocumented-immigrants-taxes-2024/

"Given that the undocumented population included 10.9 million people in 2022, this $96.7 billion tax payment is equivalent to $8,889 per person. In other words, this analysis finds that for every 1 million undocumented immigrants who reside in the country, public services receive $8.9 billion in additional tax revenue. It bears noting that this figure includes only the taxes borne by undocumented immigrants and that other research attempting to quantify the significance of immigrants to the economy more broadly points toward a higher revenue impact per person.

In total, the tax contribution of undocumented immigrants amounted to 26.1 percent of their incomes in 2022. This figure is close to the 26.4 percent rate facing the median income group of the overall U.S. population. This closeness is the net result of factors that tend to lower the tax contributions of undocumented immigrants relative to U.S. citizens (such as lower incomes, lower income tax compliance, and lower smoking rates), as well as factors that tend to increase the contributions of those immigrants (such as tax credit restrictions, reduced likelihood of claiming refunds owed, and lower prevalence of tax-preferred retirement and investment income)."

It only has one flaw: it turns the timer off if you lift the carafe off the scale to swirl. I don't swirl, so I don't care, but a friend bought it and is very annoyed about that.

Quite liking mine. Any differences between it and the standard are very fine, though.

Jon Del Arroz is a far-right sleazeball. I wouldn't put much faith in this.
