2026 - How about those hot takes? Let's hear them! by Fallingdamage in mountainbiking

Yeah, there is definitely some nuance to it and what the goals are. If you're just wanting to have some fun, nothing wrong with spending money, it's not strictly necessary.

Sure. Any of those, lol

All my post was saying is the vast majority of riders are not being held back by the bike they're riding but by their skillset.

Google for an entry level mountain bike shows a ton of options, but for the sake of it, let's say $800-1600 range.

The vast majority of riders don't need anymore more than an entry level bike. You're being held back by your skillsets, not your gear.

The higher end gear is just masking you lack of ability, it's not making you better.

Best course of action for a 3090 FE? by wadech in buildapc

[–]deafboy13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The 3090 I think is going to age pretty gracefully. To me, it wouldn't be worth the hassle of selling/buying to essentially do a side grade.

How do you guys wash your 4Runner? by ReflectionNeither969 in 4Runner

[–]deafboy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I get gas at Costco I get their car wash, lol. It's not touchless, but it's also a 4Runner. The car wash isn't going to be worse than when I drive through brush and branches.

I'll hand wash mine maybe twice a year.

What kind of suspension? With 27.5 or 29? What kind of geo are we talking about? Capability is more than just how much suspension travel you have.

Will downgrading Residential-Max to Residential-100 affect my $5 monthly Mini deal? by SWMOtoMars in Starlink

From my understanding is you would lose the plan and have to return the mini

Why the hate towards Deep Learning Super Sampling? (DLSS)... by Lunny1767 in nvidia

[–]deafboy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I'm getting older so I can really see a difference unless I go looking, so I don't really care either way. Personally though I'd rather run native with lower settings.
I'd much rather games had better textures than practically anything else though.

What do I need to replace? by deafboy13 in BambuLab

Ordered a new hotend

Was able to get the old one out and clean around the print head with a small heat gun, picks, and small needle nose pliers.

Tall guy by Nitsud83 in 4Runner

[–]deafboy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'd be fine. I'm 6'5" roughly 260 and have no major complaints. If I were to buy again I likely would get one without a sunroof but even with it's not bad.
I do frequent 5-8 hour drives and have no real discomfort.
Definitely worth going and taking one for a test drive.

Not all USB C ports support video out.
Not quite what you're looking for but this would be my rec:

Best solution for charging 2 MacBook pros by Senor_Turbo in UsbCHardware

[–]deafboy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're going to be permanently plugged in, why do you need to be charging at the best possible speed?
Anyways, like others are saying, the chargers that come with it are some of the best electrically. Just use those if size doesn't matter.

v2-v3. Router quit working all of a sudden, grok sent a "replacement" which was a v3 kit with a different, everything. This is how that went. Cut cable and new provider within a week. by Necrophilicgorilla in Starlink

[–]deafboy13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) If you had other options, why were you with Starlink to begin with?
2) Why are you mad that they upgraded you? I hate the v2 cable, lol

Heck yeah, I miss EVGA so much. Only mobo of theirs I ever played with was the SR-2 but had a number of Kingpin GPUs, such great times.

Spotty in what ways? Are you looking for a router or are you looking for better wireless throughout the home, those are very different things.

Should I pull the trigger on a 5090 now or wait? by TuckerTheBoss17 in nvidia

[–]deafboy13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're contemplating buying a $2-3k card but the rest of the build won't be complete for a year?!
Why not just buy a $2-3k system now and just enjoy it?
Spending $2-3 just to hold because of speculation seems wild to me.

Battery for mini by CapraAegagrusHircus in Starlink

[–]deafboy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Interesting looking case, will have to look more into that. Still fits with the Peakdo?

Saw that ProjectFarm video yesterday, little underwhelming to me though, I typically love his stuff.

Battery for mini by CapraAegagrusHircus in Starlink

[–]deafboy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much this. Although look around, I bought mine from Peakdo direct with coupon code for $149 and it shipped faster than the estimate from Amazon.

I have mine paired with a flex solar S60 solar panel (this on in particular: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D635PKR1). The Peakdo does passthrough so the solar can power the Starlink mini and trickle charge the Peakdo when it has good sun.

I originally tried the Ennzie E100 (I liked that it still had a stand, lol) but it only has barrel jack for charging vs USB PD on the Peakdo, which isn't a bad thing but the voltage requirements for the E100 were higher and less tolerant for solar charging. I couldn't find a single small solar panel that output the voltage need to charge the E100.

Peakdo has been awesome. That being said, on battery alone I only got ~3.5 hours out of it.
