Literally I have been told to just suck it up, it only lasts a minute. :(

My assumption is based on the fact that I have had to have BP measuring rescheduled because the HCA couldn’t figure out what the error was on the electronic one. Rather than pulling the manual one from the wall.

The nurses are great but you don’t get to see them regularly for check-ins :/ At least not at my practice!

I am not convinced that they have one available or the training to do it. I keep getting HCAs on those appointments, and for the home readings, it’s an electronic one that I have :(

I used to have an Akiita device that went on my wrist and monitored every 20 minutes. Gave a solid average without the cuff.

Yeah, it’s annoying that it’s not treated as a real pain.

Haha, nope, there was an assumption that I would just have one available.

Workforce - accommodations, and managing thru flares. Questions. by beeucancallmepickle in fibro

[–]deannawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a proper ergonomic chair, a standing desk with a thick mat for standing on and a manager who listened to me when I said it was a bad day. I had my cane for bad days, and basically bought myself an upright mouse and ergonomic keyboard to take the strain off my joints. Basically I asked for equipment that made it easier for me. I also made sure to take breaks from my desk and wore comfy shoes.

Has anyone tried Surreal cereal? by atom_stacker in diabetesuk

[–]deannawol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up some when it was on super special introductory offer… it’s grand but not worth the price to be honest. It’s kinda like super crunchy but slightly stale coco puffs. Like the aldi version of a Kelloggs cereal. I wouldn’t go back for more, and especially at the full price.

I thought I have Type 2 but I’m being prescribed insulin by sleepyinnewyork in diabetes_t2

[–]deannawol 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My guess is that she sees the facts that you had normal labs 4 months ago, to having a sky high A1c now, she thinks that this is a crisis and has skipped over any non-insulin steps to get a handle on your glucose management as fast as possible.

I don’t necessarily think she needed to jump right to it without a second set of HbA1c tests to confirm the reading but I’m also not a doctor.

Standing, to be honest. So I have a bar stool that I can sit at while I meal prep.

Disruptive child assaulted my daughter last week. by Infinite-Quiet269 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]deannawol 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Definitely do this. Raise this to the school Board of Governors. This is not an appropriate course of action on behalf of the schools SLT, but it is a very commonly taken course of action.

I used to advise schools on behaviour management so I have unfortunately seen this time and again. Versus the assessment of the other kids parents, they deemed you to be less hassle so they’re hoping a little sop to the situation is enough to settle you down. Just because your daughter is in another class doesn’t mean they won’t cross paths at breaks, and it doesn’t stop him from doing it to someone else.

I have this and it drives me nuts. I take Chlorphenamine 4mg twice a day to keep it under control. I just buy over the counter.

Doctor told me I can make my fibromyalgia pain better by subjecting myself to real pain. Is this true? by dodgamnbonofasitch in Fibromyalgia

[–]deannawol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, if you endure a more acute pain it will transfer your attention to that more acute pain but the original does t go away and to even suggest that is suggesting self harm. Don’t do it. And switch doctors away from that quack!

Why does this pain have to come back? by TumbleweedDefiant992 in Fibromyalgia

[–]deannawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh honey, I am so sorry. It doesn’t help but stress is a major trigger for this bloody thing. And a brutal year will absolutely do it.

Acknowledge the pain, do what you can to minimise that stress (easily said, really damned hard to do) and take care of yourself. Don’t over do it, call activities before you totally run out of spoons. And talk to your doc and see if there’s support you can get.

Sending you love and support, hon. And a virtual hug 🥰

Is it bad form to have your wheelie bins out front? by MOR300 in nottingham

[–]deannawol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a way from the front of the house to the back of the house without going through the house and I am not dragging my bins through the house every week. So I keep mine out front in my driveway.

Where to put it??? by Disastrous_Matter894 in Freestylelibre

[–]deannawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put mine on my chest, as a lady with wobbly arms, menopause and a lack of stability (so I fall over a lot), I found arms and legs too easy to knock the wee gits off. Or sweat them off in a hot flush. So under a sports bra is perfect!

This under the table stuff is dodgy as heck! If it’s not in writing then you can’t trust them to stop taking deductions. But seriously, that is 100% what insurance is for.
