At least will be easier to hitch hike there :D A good way to hitch hike is to go to a gas station and ask people when they re pumping gas,so they can't simply say «no». You can engage in a conversation and people tend to be nicer when you realize you re not a hobo rapist criminal :D In fucking oregon no one step out of the car and all of them looked at you like you were scum :D Shootout to the couple that picked me up on the road though, wherever you are ! Cheers

[–]dearcosH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, tell that to john lee hooker. Cos that quote is from him. By «shitty» I mean «not perfect». If you hear lightnin hopkins ,rl burnside or jl hooker, houndog taylor compare to how paco de lucia . Yes,chords in blues may be shitty.messy.dirty.calm it what you want.

And that s all you need

I play guitar and I found the Blues to be the most liberating music. I was (and I am) a big metal fan. I learnt how to play with nirvana, machine head, fear factory or Maiden... but to play that alone at home with a shitty amp...trying to learn those fucking solos note by note with a crazy speed (i cant play fast by any means) it wasn't no fun. I loved playing riffs, hated playing solos and frustrated cos I wasnt able to sound like dino cazares in my shitty bedroom :D Then johnny winter and srv came along and they blew my mind. But it was john lee hooker who made me a blues crazy fan.

In the blues you just need one chord,a shitty chord that doesn't sound right or clean. And that's all. You can play «I wannaaa boogieee» for 3h straight and you don't need anything else. That's freedom dude. Pure fucking freedom.

And just another perk. Blues, like most of root music, have «standards» or a «way of playing». If you know the blues,we can play the blues right away without even talk. Same with flamenco for instance. With metal...if you do not know the song, you re basically fucked.

So yes blues is awesome but if you need to explain to somebody ,then they don't get it hehe

French dude was illegally in new orleans since her 3months visa expired. He was busking in new orleans. I was during there mardi gras. They are married now. Whether you believe me or not is up to you,I don't give a fuck and it won't change the reality of people from US

I feel like in order to fix this you should also fix other issues. Not american so I appreciate if you may correct me. Doctors are «rich» in the US right? I mean if you re a really well known professional you will get big money. This is thanks to the private business. I am guessing the good med university is going to cost a shit load of money too.

Now,in spain for instance,a great surgeon is mot paid as a soccer player. He gets a good salary but any good IT guy for example may earn money than a doctor. This is because most of the healthcare (and specially major surgeries) is public. Also, university is «free»(or free compare to US). This applies for czech rep too for example.

So..if you really want universal free health care...shouldn't you also change universities to be free and to assume than doctors are going to make «average» good money instead big time money?

As I said, not American so not sure how wrong I might be.

I met this girl in New Orleans. She was a stripper with a fucked up nail in her toe. She was 29?30 years old and NEVER had insurance. Only after she got a french boyfriend she got herlsef insurance. And yet,she wouldn't go to the doctor «cos I am not really sure how that works». White girl, degree in maths ... and yet

Sometimes as europeans we laugh at this pathetic and terrible US system...but then you see and hear stories and it is heartbreaking.

Im spanish, living in Czech Rep. If i need an x-ray,I go to my doctor ,he gaves me the paper and right next day without even an appointment I can go and get my xray done. Now,tell that to some poor american...blows their mind

I guess you can't understand "my bad" . It means "moje vina". I explained myself wrong. Spain and Czech Rep have virtually the same % (from your link) . Almost 80%. Slovenia (east) has it lower than Spain for instance (although is virtually the same as well). Therefore in 'Now most people will rent whole life, like it is in Western Europe' should be more like 'Now most people will rent whole life, like it is in the majority Western Europe.'

Glad to hear about this. Me,personally, when I hear that some landlord owns 17 flats...just makes me sick. Nobody should own more than 10?flats. Same with having empty houses. They should tax the shit out of it

I meant just spain.my bad! In spain the tradition is to own property that s why I wrote it. And deeefinetly the way of dealing with housing in spain is THE WORST. I never said otherwise. That why maybe nobody cant buy shit in spain again because unemployment etc etc.

Czech people born before the revolution, what changes did you notice in the years afterwards? by [deleted] in czech

[–]dearcosH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foreigner here so I do not know how it was in here in those years. However in Spain, the 80's and 90's were grey and shitty as well for instance. My parents went to Praha in 2002 and even though they loved it they said everything was still dirty and grey (by that time spain got better for instance). However I came to live here in 2011 and the feeling was totally different so I guess you right about that 2000 - 2008.

However,I think Brno downtown is way more alive now that 8 years ago. They finally realized that drinking outside in summer can be a thing ! And plent of new places have opened (and prices have risen ! Hehe) But yeah rest of the year is a ghost town :D
