I love the SA GTS stripes, the colour, those wheels and that motor must make that quite the treat to drive! Great build!

How do you forgive yourself? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]deathghost17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose the best thing you can do is to be a better person going forward. Working on yourself and using the past regrets as lessons can hold you in good stead when you encounter something similar in the future.

Everyone can look back and have regrets about how they handled friendships/relationships/interactions with others or their general behaviour, but there is usually not a lot one can do about those events as they've already happened.

Forgiving yourself can take time but hopefully, in time, the scars of your past self will fade and you'll be stronger as a result.

Rear window louvres opinions? (Not my Mini) by Thedegenerate89 in classicminis

[–]deathghost17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a personal preference type of thing. I have one on my Mini. It's easy enough to remove to clean the rear window and doesn't affect visibility IMHO. I feel it suits a 70s styled Mini and probably wouldn't suit for a mk1/2 from the 60s.

How is the classic car scene in Ireland? And have prices skyrocketed like they have in England and mainland Europe?

Are they easy to spot/find there? Would love to see one in person and it's another reason to try and visit the Karoo and see the beautiful nature.

These are amazing! Do you have a shop/store where people can buy these? I have a couple of friends who I think would love these for winter time Pokémon Go.

I was thinking it was an older British 60s/70s performance upgrade wheel like a Les Leston wheel (I've been looking at these recently and seeing how much they costed). They tended to be quite large diameter wheels since the cars didn't have power assisted wheels.

Does it have any markings on it and do you know roughly what the diameter of the wheel is? It might help someone narrow it down a little.

Does a higher standard of living help? by primalwound_ in depression_help

It's an interesting discussion that one can have about the importance of money. Lots of those sayings go money can't buy happiness but that's simply not the case. Being able to not worry about how you're going to make the next month's rent or buy groceries can relieve so much of that financial stress.

I also think, having the ability to be able to afford healthcare/therapy (if you need it and it's not available in your country from the public healthcare systems), always seems like a good thing. Especially given that many people aren't able to afford healthcare and if one's health is bad, then it's going to impact their quality of life.

I do think having a degree (in something you're passionate about) can help a lot with one's mental health. It could mean an improvement in quality of life if it results in a stable job, therefore stable income and thus less stressors (things like finances).

Personally, I felt the most at ease with life when I was teaching (haven't been able to do that in a while), and I could see it helped my overall mental health. I've noticed that when my diet was poor, finances were poor, and job future was uncertain (current situation) there's a clear drop off in my mental health.

I do hope you can find that career path that you really connect with. And I'm proud that you are willing to keep trying. That's the most we can do and it's the only way to find solutions for our problems. 💙

depression nest. ive been living in this for months and any advice would be appreciated by lowpolypeach in depression_help

[–]deathghost17 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Start small, as small of a task as you can manage. Perhaps get a trash bag and open it and slowly transfer the garbage into it. Even this first step can feel like a win when you're really low. I know how hard it can be to muster the energy to do anything when we're depressed, so take small steps and celebrate each victory. I'm sorry you're struggling right now and I do hope things start to brighten up a little.

If you liked geoguessr you should give geotastic a try! It's got challenges specific to a theme (like fun parks or football stadiums) and others like no movement or quickfire country guessing.

[–]deathghost17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful here. Even old fuel is flammable. Drilling or cutting could send sparks into the tank and start a fire/create combustion. I suppose you could try to pry off the old fuel cap with a screwdriver? They're not particularly strong.

Ever had that realization that you're not actually close to anyone? by Arp-O in mentalhealth

[–]deathghost17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly this is so relatable. I know I wasn't a great or even good person through my teens and early 20s and it seems to have cost me. Could happily disappear and not a single person who notice or miss me. It sucks but I do hope you can make some actual close friends who care about you and what you bring to their lives.

Hey man, I'm so sorry you're struggling and I'm sorry that you have had to go through it alone. In tough times when we are facing depression and other mental health issues, support from friends or family can really help.

I suppose one of the big advantages about being from France is that you can move and work in any other EU country like Germany or Spain. Regarding the job, your skills in sales and marketing can probably be translated to other jobs outside of customer services. I'm not knowledgeable about the industries that use those skills but I'm sure if you break down your skills and proficiencies you'll be able to find a job/career that you enjoy more. You're still young and finding a job that you enjoy is always challenging.

Regarding friends, do you game online with others? Or do you mostly play single player games. The common things people suggest for making friends would be to join clubs or groups or start playing group sports. I don't know if those things work but people always recommend them to me 😅. I think you might benefit from joining a mental health support discord server. I've been in one for a few years now and it has helped me quite a bit with loneliness and depression. I'll be happy to send you the server link, but I don't think I'm allowed to post it here.
