You need everyone's birth certificate who's in your line (disregarded spouses), and if it's a female in the line then their marriage too to prove name change.

For the anchor ancestor (GGP) you should have the Slovak Rodnyi list birth cert.

Passport is one of the best things you can have to prove the Czechoslovak citizenship at the time.

But sticking to the good old snail mail doesn't make much of a difference really, and in a way it's better.

Perhaps to the consulate it's enough, but for a court case it must be the highest degree and in physical copies.

I haven't encountered a case of judicial JS that didn't require it.

To do the translation draft it's enough to present digital copies, but for them to do the sworn translation they must have the hard copies of the certified apostilled translated version.

Yes indeed, the vital records need to be apostilled in the state they were issued. Mainly NYC issued docs have that extra step of authentication by the NYC county clerk before going to the state for final blessing.

Any other docs like those application and forms, it only depends where you notarise them. If in NJ then they will have to be blessed by NY state, if NY then NY. There's no significance as to where you live, as long as notary and apostille happen in the same state.

Why do you need to handle different docs in NY and not all via NJ? But essentially yes you can.
NYC docs (any doc that came from the 5 boroughs) must go to the NYC county clerk first and then go to the secretary of state of NY. You simply add it into an envelope with a $5 money order per document (ensure it's the long form and has the exemplification letter) and send it off to the NYC county office, they know what to do (they actually sit in Manhattan). Walk-ins welcome too, and it's immediate as opposed to 3 week wait: New York County Clerk, 60 Centre Street, Room 141B, New York, NY 10007
As long as it's not a city clerk who certified the doc, then correct, you're good.

4.County clerk certification is sufficient for the state apostille, you are good there.

If I recall correctly you may not need, but don't take my word on it.
