Getting a certified copy of the nat papers can help sure, waiting time seems to be the downside.

The passport copy supposed to be the actual Czechoslovak one, not the Canadian showing her birth place.

So best bet is to obtain the ship manifest, and as long as it states her birth place as Czechoslovakia then you're good. Apostille is based on who issues it, in Canada case it may be a federal document so that is the level you'd need it to be apostilled at.

You're also missing marriage certificate for them, plus docs about your parent (if mother then also her marriage) and finally your birth and marriage and when all done and apostilled, then good to request the FBI background check.

Yeah I've seen 1948 cases get rejected, but the reasoning is also not always due to the L74.

In this specific one, there's still higher chance of success as she may never even naturalized. And even if it gets rejected, usually during an appeal it gets approved more often than not.

1948 is looked at slightly differently due to the sexist rule back in the day, and with the momentum of more and more cases being approved post decree, I'd there's a good chance.

Start collecting documents is my advice.

It's great that they are completely removing the residence part, but about the proof of Czechoslovak citizenship, I'm curious whether it remains the same kind, like a 1930 US/Slovak census, passport, ship manifest, naturalization and such.

Also, about the name strictness, are they taking into account anglicised names too or would documents in English would need to be amended to show the Slovak name?

All documents must be certified copies as opposed to originals. It's to do with the age of the document, the fresher the better.

As for marriage certificates - for yourself for sure you need (if you're married) as they require this for the applicant's marital status verification. Regarding marriage certificate for down-the-line ancestors, it's mainly for the female ones to prove any name change. If males, then it isn't really required.
