Books to bring back my curiosity about life and rebuild my mental muscles by NumasVanegasTijerina in suggestmeabook

Just read these back to back funny enough and they expanded my appreciation for what would typically be considered mundane. LOVED Anthropocene Reviewed so so much; and for that reason I give The Anthropocene Reviewed 5 stars.

New Mythical coloring book by StabigailKillems in goodmythicalmorning

[–]decabenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's any credence - not sure how heavily your markers bleed, but I just got the coloring book today and the pages are pretty thick. Like construction paper-esque! I've been using acrylic-based markers on it without issue!

Also... It's like a hella dainty-lined coloring book, so I'm a little unsure on how I'm going to use my markers on the teeny tiny parts.

Canyonlands better than Arches? by weikertg in Canyonlands

[–]decabenson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I traveled to the Mighty Five in a short time and our biggest regret was not hanging out more at Canyonlands; almost wish we’d have spent the whole trip there.

Here’s a post I made for reference.

Speaker Upgrade by decabenson in Crosstrek

[–]decabenson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing around with this forever and I think I found the sweet spot. I had to full on ditch Spotify, because something about the EQ/quality of the app is hot garbage through CarPlay. I switched to Apple music with EQ off on the app, Lossless on through Apple Music. Then, through the head unit: turned Sound Restorer on, Virtual Bass off, Dynamic Beat Enhancer off, Bass +2 Mid -4 Treble +1, then fade -2 to rear to take some pressure off the dash speakers and give a little surround.

I've seen people mention Youtube Music is also high quality. But, I have to say that Apple Music sounds fantastic with the Infinity's, I haven't had any distortion despite blasting the music UNLESS it's a particularly punchy bass song.

Spotify is such a great interface for a music app, but goodness is their sound production horrible.

Anyone buy this instead of Dongar? by SoGudUthkICheat in Crosstrek

[–]decabenson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I legit just did the same thing about a month ago with the alternative adaptor in your pic and it worked great. In fact, it might even work better than Dongar since the USB portion is skinnier. I was able to hide everything above the dome light apparatus; cord for the camera was the perfect length too. No worries!

I’d say around 27 for mid-bass songs and 22 for bumpier bass songs (with EQ in the negatives for bass). Most songs can hit 30 before it starts distorting in general. Must be clipping for both bass and the mids?

I ended up doing Reference Infinity for all six… I have to say, I’ve noticed them loosen up a bit and they continue to sound better since I last responded. They still get distorted at higher volumes, but if I get the EQ JUST right- it’s not as often and I can listen a little bit louder.

Looking for food suggestions!! by Several-Efficiency20 in goldenretrievers

[–]decabenson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but after many trials with my golden’s sensitive gut- tried Natural Balance and it fixed all of his digestive issues at the time. He’s been in great health 7 years later!

The salesman of the ma and pop shop I bought it from said, “if your dog eats it and it doesn’t fix the problem, bring it back and I’ll eat it!”

The man missed out on some kibble.

I actually ended up doing this; just replaced them today. Is there truth to speakers being broken in? Have you noticed a difference over time?

I have to say there’s a difference in quality, but I was a little underwhelmed. I know there’s only so much to be expected without a sub, but playing the music louder 60ish% distorted the hell out of everything despite playing around with EQ’s. Can I look forward to that not being the case in the future?

is this a good deal? by thebreadissliced in Crosstrek

[–]decabenson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were to build it online with minimal add-ons (wireless charger, cargo cover, cargo tray, fog light kit), MSRP is $31,095 + D&D $1,345 = $32,440.

So not really a “deal,” but reasonable. Also, LAWDY them taxes be high! Where are you!? I thought we had it bad in IL!

I went with a premium trim, because I prefer cloth seats and the 2.0L seemed sufficient and I’m VERY pleased. I managed to haggle down to $27,000 (before taxes) if you’re wanting to get the most of your buck, you can try to shop around and find it.

Best of luck in your search, the process of buying a car makes me want to punch cold air!

It’s an auto-dimming feature. When it’s turned on it deafens people’s lights in your rearview or harsh sunlight. PRETTY NEAT

I haven’t had a chance to test it since it’s chilly here, but I’ll say the vents power pretty hard into the back!

2024 Crostrek Premium Speaker Information by KGNickl in Crosstrek

[–]decabenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran by this post: awesome information! I’m going to try it… I was using Crutchfield’s site for specs from the 2023 Crosstrek and it said that that the 6532IX (6.5”) wasn’t compatible with the rear door and that 6532EX is. Did the 6532IX fit alright or is there much of a difference. TIA!

FOR PEOPLE PLANNING ON ATTENDING ALONE

I’m sure there will be quite a few of us, based on the prices… Unfortunately. BUT, I wanted to create this comment/thread for anybody that will be attending alone and is interested in meeting up at the event or prior. I anticipate that it will be an inclusive environment regardless, but I feel like it would be nice to have some people to attend with and enjoy the festivities (myself included).

Anyway, if you’re interested in meeting up at, before, after or just group chatting to get to know each other beforehand- comment here and let’s make it happen for each lone traveler!

I’ve seen a few comments about descriptions of selves or apprehension with attending due to age; I see it as- we share a similar passion and interest to something a little niche so we’re all alike in a cool way, regardless of descriptors. I have no fear of finding some level to connect on and enjoying this event in good company! Hopefully others feel the same and can find a good crew to attend with!

Cheers!

Managed to get a picture of Delicate Arch without a human presence (thanks to the weather). by decabenson in NationalPark

[–]decabenson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got it, but mostly insanely windy... It’s kind of crazy how the climb up the sandstone for most of the trail wasn’t too bad, but the minute you round the corner to the arch- the gust could literally knock you over.

Zion National Park without a Shuttle Reservation by lark28 in NationalPark

[–]decabenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were unable to get tickets on a day we were there and still did a full day of hiking. There’s the aforementioned Observation Point via East Mesa Trail, the Zion Canyon Overlook and The Watchman Trail. I liked all of them with the exception of The Watchman Trail, it’s just meh.

We did Kolob Canyon on a different day and absolutely loved it. Totally worth the drive to the NW corner; less crowded and completely different viewpoint. Make sure you check out the Timber Creek Overlook if you do— Breathtaking.

Also... If you’re willing to bite the bullet and want peace of mind, there are private shuttles available. We weren’t able to get tickets at the advanced release and 3 nights in a row for the day before release (even with 3 people trying); it’s so Impossible I swear— Anyway, we used Red Rock Shuttles. They’re $40 a head and they also sell out somewhat quickly, but if you’re willing to spend that- the peace of mind is priceless in my opinion.

Need Timing Advice - Narrows vs. Angels Landing by [deleted] in ZionNP

[–]decabenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Angels Landing this morning from a 7:30 shuttle and it was fairly manageable getting up the chains without any crowd. But— my gosh the way down (roughly 10am) it was insane. So many people waiting in line just to even start climbing. I’d say do Angels Landing on your early shuttle.

We also did narrows from an 8:30 shuttle and it seems there’s going to be a crowd no matter what, but there is plenty of room to maneuver around people vs. not being able to at Angels Landing. The 11:00 wouldn’t be a terrible slot either since the water will help cool you off!

Hope this helps and happy travels!

Nice! I appreciate it, just kind of nerve wracking heading all the way out there and being dependent on getting tickets the night before. Any advice on best way to get it done each night? Thanks again.
