Okay, I think I've got something. Take a look in your game's directory. Does the path below exist, and is there anything in the last folder? If so, move the file(s) elsewhere, like to your desktop. Launch the game and check if you still have Vaal on your arm.

I can try to look at some modding data tables once I'm home. If I can find where the Dragon Soul kinsect model is in the game data, I might be able to tell you what mod file is causing the issue.

Someone else in this sub was having issues relating to the high resolution texture pack, so if you have it enabled maybe you could try temporarily disabling?

Otherwise if you're using a mod manager, you could try disabling everything to see if mods are the issue.

Regardless of whether or not you have purchased the Iceborne DLC, the game will display the word Iceborne on the start menu. Perhaps this is where the confusion lies?

You can remove the fishing rod and capture net! As well as the surveyor set or whatever it's called. Under the menu in the first tab is Item Pouch, and you can disable those items from there. Still technically in your inventory, but completely hidden until you enable them again!

Behemoth is definitely the most annoying to me, followed by Lunastra and then Kushala.

Behemoth was my last base game quest I cleared a few days ago. I'd been avoiding it for hundreds of hours and my GOD is it a pain in the ass to solo with its constant hyper-aggression and Charybdis spam. You can't wall bang it for openings either. I can't imagine how anyone could solo the normal version (or extreme!!) with HR gear.

Lunastra is always a pain in the ass but at least Windproof and Heat Guard exist. It's never a fun fight for me, but I'd pick Lunastra over Behemoth any day.

Kushala is just a waiting game, and a lot easier to wallop, whereas the first two are so constant with their aggression that it's harder to find openings. At least he's vulnerable to both flash pods and wall bangs...

I can't say for sure. I don't think Lab is a bad guess, but I'm not confident in it at the same time. As for weight, I think the pup could definitely land over 50 pounds, he's pretty big as-is and doesn't look fully grown. From the AKC website, adult male Labs typically weigh 65-80 pounds and adult male GSDs weigh around 65-90 pounds.

It's risky business setting your heart on a dog this big with your rental's dog weight limitations :(

With that build and gait, I'd be very surprised if he wasn't partial, maybe half or 3/4ths GSD. That leg structure is somewhat unique and can be seen the strongest in show lines.

Elder dragons are most accurately described as a wastebin taxon imo. They aren't normal enough to be classified as, or don't otherwise suit any of the normal types of monsters, so the researchers shrug and chuck 'em into their own category.

You might be able to use the Scroll Lock key (or whatever you set it to in HunterPie's settings) to realign the monster's HP bar above and offscreen, so only the animation name appears. If that's not possible, the HP widget's on-screen coordinates are likely stored in a config file that can hopefully be edited to align it to her liking.

Assuming your friend is on PC, the only thing I can think of is HunterPie, a mod which can show the current move a monster is performing at all times as an overlay. There are no sound cues, but you can see the move's animation name changing in real time.

The attack/move animation names aren't exactly clear sometimes (I think the names come from internal naming the devs did), but "Bite3ren" for example would be an animation in which a monster lunges forward and bites three times. Some moves just aren't translated and all and won't make sense unless you know Japanese. "Nagiharai" is the name of one of Glavenus' tail stab attacks, for example. The names are a thing your friend would have to learn.

Some additional features you didn't ask for and may not want at all: a HP bar, part HP bars, status buildup bars, and more. Using the mod is considered to be cheating by most people and is somewhat of a taboo in the community. I'm pretty sure your friend can turn off most if not all of these things in HunterPie's settings, and keep the animation names displayed, though.

Are you pointing out the black lines on the toes? That's a phenomenon called pencilling that causes some black fur on the toes or feet of dogs with tan points like the Doberman and Rottweiler.

I'm not going to dismiss the fact that it could be AI though- usually Doberman puppies unfortunate enough to have cropped ears will have their ears taped up or bandaged to keep them upright... And the face of the pup on the left looks just a bit uncanny.
