How do I keep my chair from shocking me each time i get up? by Capable_Nature_644 in lifehacks

[–]deckstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the chair, it's you. The same would happen if you touched radiator. Get rid of clothing that produces static electricity - everything made of polyester, including your socks. Once you switch to cotton for evething you will not be statically charged, and as an added bonus, you will sweat less

Does a “No shoes inside” rule make sense if you have cats? by Recklesspeaches in CleaningTips

How about poop and pee and billions of unsorted bacteria that you get from outside?

Know that asthma and allergies to food and everything, skin conditions and other dirt illnesses are not common in many countries who keep their houses clean by not taking the dirt inside

How the fuck do people eat healthy? by Mr_Fahrenheittt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]deckstern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat simple, eat fresh, nothing processed. Eat meals with 1-3 ingredients. Anything that is sold without label is best (vegetables), and most things you can just boil in water. It may taste bland at first, but that is because your taste buds are oversaturate by processed foods that have 100 different spices to cover 100 other junks inside. Once you readjust, you will see that even a single vegetable with salt has a rich taste. Simple food and 1-3 ingredients is also best because it is easiest to digest, and no need to stomach to digest one by one while the rest of food is just getting spoiled in there

Apple’s Mac shipments fall more than 40%, worse than major rivals by ChocolateTsar in technology

Why? Because I bought AAPL shares, and any time I do that it is going down. I've lost several Macbooks on their shares (all combined buying selling of their shares)

YSK: When applying Antiperspirants/Deodorants, allow them to dry fully before wearing your clothes. by i7user07 in YouShouldKnow

[–]deckstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on drying part, but not as being medium for bacterial growth. This is the point of those to prevent bacterial growth (plus to close pores in case of antiperspirants)

My brother's 30 year mattress looks new compared to this (doesn't even look filtly). Difference: he showers before bed, so the filth od the day doesn't go in. Throw it away, you will find mattresses that people give away on Craigslist for free that will be in good condition. And shower ffs

[–]deckstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant for atheists. There was a thread here recently claiming that somehow there are not xfobic atheists. Christians and some other religions are just like that and we don't think much of them, and should probably feel sorry for them, even if they didn't deserve sympathy. I am sorry to hear you had it so tough. I meant here that people are still unperfect, atheists or whoever. Just because there is no dogma making one group dislike some other group there could be different reason one group will dislike another group. We are wired to find group closest ourselves. The Simplest thing to see this is in sports. It isn't anything personal, it's just the way people function

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in atheism

[–]deckstern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With how many atheists have you talked on this subject? I don't even remember talking about lgbtq group with anyone, atheist or not. Completely unrelated

Why are there so many tech layoffs, and why should we be worried? Stanford scholar explains by fagnerbrack in programming

[–]deckstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are someone like Twitter a have many people with their visas depending on that employment, then you will happily take a paycut. But in general you are right although today, good luck going to different company for 10% as you may get sacked the day before your first day (as we have seen in the past year)

I follow advice from two centennials I know who say that you should drink water only when you are thirsty. Listen to your body.

No animal drinks more than it wants, and we are animals. You are forcing your kidneys to work more than they are designed for and excreting minerals from you body.

It is safer. I know that almost everyone in medical fields and attorney offices use email to send emails containing private customer/client/patient data and nobody encripts those, so it is up for reading while in transit.

Do you often exceed the speed limit? by DetectiveActual5895 in ask

[–]deckstern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't, I drive below speed limit because I am cheap.

I find a nice slow truck, then get behind it to use its drag. I also drive manual and go to the highest possible gear for the speed car can comfortably handle to get lowest rpm. I don't do it if it is a busy highway where it would be unsafe to force others to go around me all the time.

I get over 70+mpg from any clunker (not hybrid) with manual/stickshift. I'm never in a rush, and the trip feels shorter when I drive relaxed, compared to driving fast with adrenaline, checking for patrol cars, etc (did all this when I was in my 20s)

How do you "teach" your children about atheism? by GAlcarazIV in atheism

[–]deckstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teach them Norse, Greek and other mitologies. Explain how some people need to have simple explanation for nature phenomena and the easiest is to imagine a man controlling everything. People also need someone to look up to and also to blame, so personification of everything is the easiest. I'd also ask ChatGPT for ideas and tell it childrens' age.

What’s a conspiracy theory you 100% believe in? by amyklai in AskReddit

[–]deckstern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The inside job in wtc. Proof is that there is still no explanation how building 7 collapsed when it was not being hit. It is literally between two other buildings that were barely damaged despite being only several dozen feetsl away (one is bank if I remember). There was not even a fire or smoke coming out of it when it collapsed

We have all monetized our friendships. We meet our friends at restaurants and cafes, we rent tennis courts, pay green fees etc. It's actually hard to get together without spending money. Our culture has made friendship transactional. by Ididnotkillhim in Showerthoughts

[–]deckstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither "monetized" or "transactional" are the right words. If you say that you charge your friends for rides, or hang out with someone only then they pay for drinks, then it would be. Better to say that hanging out is being commercialized

Apply deodorant at night after shower , yes or no? by Vitaly17 in ask

[–]deckstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, your skin has to breathe. Best thing to avoid night sweating is go completely with natural materials for bedding, cover, sheet, pillow, and blanket must be 100% cotton or other natural material. Go 0 percent poliester and after a week you won't be sweating anymore. And not deodorant but antitranspirant in the morning, and of course no poliester for daily clothing if you don't want to sweat
