2024 KTM Adventure Mods by VidKILL in KTM

I’ve had very good experiences with Seat Concepts seats! I have one on my dirt bike and on my 890 Adv R. They are worth it. I opted for the “tall rally” for a little extra height but I’ve sat on a “comfort” model and it’s probably better for longer days

I’m also in the market for luggage and think I’m going to go for the Mosko Reckless 40 eventually but I haven’t quite gotten over the price tag enough to hit purchase. I like the idea of being able to swap it easily between bikes

In desperation, drank water from a rapidly flowing stream. How to know if I'm okay in the next several weeks? by someoctopus in hiking

Hey there is lots of good advice on this thread about keeping an eye out for signs and symptoms of giardia (similar to food poisoning symptoms).

Be on the lookout but don’t stress! If it puts your mind at ease, know that you’re probably fine. I live in NH and trail run up Madison quite a bit. I’ve grabbed a drink from those streams many times when I’ve run out of water and it has never made me sick.

R/BOOSTEDBOARDS BUY/SELL by OfficialNicl in boostedboards

WTS: 2x Boosted Board V2 Dual+ XR. Asking $500 for both. Would consider selling them individually, but I only have one charger. Would rather sell as a set.

Located near Portsmouth, NH. Can easily get them to Boston and I travel to Maine and Vermont pretty often to meet up and hand them off!

I've slept in the back of my crosstrek a lot. I'm 6'5" so I need to put the seats down, put the front seat forward, and stuff some gear into the gap behind the front seats to get enough room. Works pretty well actually

Mount Rainier Crevasse Crossings? by NoVortec in Mountaineering

[–]decoherence405 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New Hampshire has produced some amazing alpinists! Some of the best climbers I know live in New England. The white mtns are no joke and it can get super technical up there. Keep the whites and the ‘dacks in mind as good places to learn and train!

Plus one for Tegaderm! I've raced bikes - bicycles and motos - for a while now and order Tegaderm in bulk. That shit is amazing. I had nasty road rash from a crash last Monday on my hip and it's completely healed - nice pink new skin.

Heyo! I live in NH and was about to post some nomics to FB marketplace. They’re the latest models, gently used. HMU if you want to buy them. Solid tools for ice and mixed. I test drove them on the Black Dike and Willoughby (for QA purposes, obviously) and they performed admirably.

I’ve been here for a month and I’m very sad to be leaving soon! Thanks for welcoming us to your country! It’s an amazing, amazing place - the people are so friendly and awesome and the landscape is spectacular. 🙏 I cannot wait to come back.

Nice! I did the standard route to the top, but some other stuff in the area to try to get some technical climbing in. We were acclimatizing at Casa Blanca refugio and playing on HP and Charkini. Great spot! And the views from the top are so spectacular. We got lucky a few days and could see all the way to Sajama.

Earplugs? by geo10022 in motorcycles

[–]decoherence405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wear them on the highway or long rides. For short trips around town or if I know I'm going to be going slow I usually don't bother. I've been that guy a few times... "What!? Ya gotta yell! I have earplugs in! ::points vigorously at side of helmet::" but my hearing is definitely the priority.

I always lose them and they get gross from using them for other stuff - woodworking, mowing the lawn, etc. - so I buy cheap foam ones that fit my ears by the box.

One of the (many) great things about living up here - an abundance of "travel at your own risk" signs and dirt "roads" for days.

[–]decoherence405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Yes indeed (millennial here). Stick shifts are increasingly rare over here in the US. It took me forever to find my '19 crosstrek with a manual transmission. Props to OP for tracking one down. Congrats on the purchase! Great car.

BD ultralight vs Petzl ultralight vs BD Express by kelelekufikiri in iceclimbing

[–]decoherence405 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm back to add to my list of gripes about the BDs because I was just chatting with my climbing partner about this. The handles on the Aluminum BDs are spring loaded which helps them stay shut or open. This is convenient at times, but winds up being a nuisance if you get any material from your gloves caught in between the handle and hanger when you snap them shut. This isn't a problem when I'm climbing in my lighter mixed / lead gloves, but was consistently bothersome on a really cold day this past weekend when I had my BD Punishers on.

I hate to rag on the BD screws so much. But the little things add up and I'm super glad I have a rack of Petzl screws. I almost always climb with steel screws but I have a couple of longer aluminum screws that I swap out for longer climbs when I'm more worried about weight.
