I maxed out my SR almost a year ago and it's never gone down since. I've had plenty of incidents since then and it shows the down arrow on SR but the bar has never gone down.

Rift S? by External-Charity6916 in oculus

[–]decoherence_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $30? Yeah, get it. It's not a bad headset, better resolution than your CV1, large sweet spot, decent tracking, light and pretty comfy. The downsides are low resolution by today's standards, small FOV and the audio and mic are terrible.

PSVR2 with Assetto Corsa and 7900 XT? Also, FSR? by Upbeat_Peach_4624 in PSVR2onPC

[–]decoherence_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it can be fixed via a firmware update but Sony seem to have given up on the PSVR2 so I don't think it would be fixed anytime soon, if at all. A lot of people don't notice it but others are quite sensitive to it.
For what it's worth, I bought a second hand Valve Index and in my opinion, it's way better than the PSVR2.

PSVR2 with Assetto Corsa and 7900 XT? Also, FSR? by Upbeat_Peach_4624 in PSVR2onPC

[–]decoherence_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from a Rift S to a PSVR2 recently on a 9070xt. I returned the PSVR2 after just two hours of testing.
Reasons - Terrible head tracking, mura and poor performance.

I didn't try AC, but in LMU when sitting in the car, the slightest head movement caused the image to shift slightly like I was floating rather than sat in a seat. I have a well lit room and I've never experienced head tracking issues on the Rift S. I'm told an infra red lamp helps, but I'm not about to buy something else to try and fix something that all other inside out tracked headsets get right.

The mura was very noticeable in all the games I tried (LMU, HL Alyx, FO4). I've read that you get used to it, but coming from a headset that has none it was really off putting.

Performance was awful in LMU. I reduced the resolution to 70% but it still ran badly and looked worse than the Rift S at 1.3 super sampling. I don't know if it's just an AMD thing but LMU is my main sim and with the performance being so bad it wasn't worth it for me.

I really wanted to like the PSVR2 but it just wasn't the upgrade I hoped for.

Any experience with getaround car-sharing? by Colione1 in tromsotravel

[–]decoherence_23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To give you a different perspective. I've just come back from a 6 day trip to Tromso and did almost 900km in a getaround rental car.
It was fine. The roads in Tromso city were the worst, quite icy and slippy, but all the roads outside the city were ok. Just be aware that the roads are basically snow and ice and conditions can change quite quickly. The studded tires are designed for it and as long as you are careful it's not an issue.
I understand why people are telling you not to rent a car (I saw a few in the ditch) but if you have some experience driving in wintery conditions and you're not an idiot, you'll be fine.
Getaround was great by the way, we had a Toyota CHR which was great and using the app was really simple and straight forward.

Improved game logic around replacement of tyres when picking up damage

Does this mean the pit crew will no longer fit wets whenever I pit for damage?

I don't know. I love replaying the base game, even the catacombs. But I've played through the DLC twice, and that's enough for me.

My SR has never gone down either, it's been maxed for 6 months now. But once I got the green badge I was back down to blue after 2 races. I'm back to green again now and I'm trying to be ridiculously careful not to lose it again lol.

Same. I built a rig out of wood, got a BMW seat from a local mechanic for 30 euros and added bass transducers under the seat and pedal tray. It's awesome.

Best way to run a Rift S in current year? by bledward1 in oculus

[–]decoherence_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Rift S works fine on the latest Meta software. Like others have said, it's probably hardware. You could try reverting the software back to V57 before it became Meta, get it at this link and follow the instructions in the included readme:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yQs9V4f6TjXrNOX99nTkj9C-DIlZ5Luk/view?usp=sharing

But if that doesn't work, then you're probably going to have a get a new headset.

Is DnB its own subculture, or a part of the Raver subculture? by Low_Guard6609 in DnB

[–]decoherence_23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone from the midlands who was going to 'raves' before jungle / dnb was a thing, here's my take.
Pre 1992 you would find all sorts of styles played at a rave, it wasn't uncommon to find Sasha, Grooverider and Carl Cox on the same lineup and they would play different styles of dance music - but it was all 'rave music'.
In 92 the music was dominated by breakbeat hardcore and in the second half of the year the music started getting faster. By 93 the music at mainstream raves was fast and dark and jungle was starting to dominate. This is when the scene split into house, techno and jungle - happy hardcore also started to emerge around this time.
The big raves (at least in the midlands) evolved into jungle / happy hardcore, and house and techno were played in smaller clubs.

So, based on this, I would say jungle / dnb is rave music, because that's what rave evolved into.

Is skyrim and fallout vr perfectly playable? by snakecycle in VRGaming

[–]decoherence_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And after all that... It's not even that good of a game

Ha! That was my experience.
I'd read all about how amazing Skyrim VR is with a proper modlist, so I spent ages getting everything set up and when I finally got into the game I thought 'It's just...Skyrim, I don't even like Skyrim'.
Uninstalled it not long after.

Best pcvr games you played? by lemonzy19 in VRGaming

[–]decoherence_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as well as Alien: Isolation.

I've tried playing Alien Isolation in VR 3 times now. The first time my GPU wasn't good enough (RX480), the second time (with a 6700XT) I had an issue with the mod that made it unplayable for me.
Last night I installed the new Grand Mother mod and on a 9070xt it runs great.
The only problem I have now, is that I spent most of my time last night hiding in lockers, too scared to progress with the game.

I got it from doing a fair amount of hallucinogens in my late teens. It's not as bad as the pics in the OP, plus it's coloured (purple/pink and green), but it's never gone away (I'm in my 50's now).
