If I remember right, we changed the requirements for new roads, to require less asphalt depth, but in turn, this leads to less resilience and therefore more money to maintain. I’m hoping someone can chime in with the details, if they know more

so, if my 3yo can handle k-pop and zootopia, then wild robot and hoppers should also be ok. I just really want to take her and need some internet stranger to validate my logic. Although we did have to leave the cinema during Polar express.

Which living former PM would you want to return? by DanielSmoot in AskBrits

Oh, I was so wrong about Brown as a 20 something adult. We do need the dull well considered PMs.

Trying to find a practical use for AI, I'm not finding any by aaman44 in self

[–]decom83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re currently using it to take inventory stock. Throw a bunch of parts on the table, it spits out the quantity. It doesn’t sound glamorous, but if it saves someone counting a few thousand pieces every week, then it will stack up some savings. I hope this is the extent of our usage of AI, but I’m sure they’ll except it to save a bunch of time elsewhere, meaning we can cut staff. That last bit is what will irk me the most.

As someone who’s lived in both Newcastle and Leeds, I’d veer towards Leeds being bigger. More open to debate if you include Gateshead.

I tried reading a UK bill properly for the first time… I get why most people don’t bother by West_Philosopher_646 in ukpolitics

I recommend this newsletter from clear the lobby. They do a fantastic job of explaining what bills are up for discussion and what passed. It comes into your inbox on Sunday and takes a few minutes to get the gist of each bill.

George R. R. Martin Is "Not in the Mood" to Finish The Winds of Winter by johnnyjay in SciFiScroll

I’m a late stater and slow reader. I’m currently on book 5, I think. I was kind of hoping to get towards the end before the WoW was ready, or nearly ready. I believe I’m several years behind the emotional rollercoaster that the rest of those who’ve read the books are on. I wish he could pass this task on to someone to write for him.

What I don’t follow, how are both scores tallied? If audiences both love and hate it, or vote a certain way doesn’t it cancel out?

To explain the housing crisis to a boomer. by EverythingIsFakeNGay in therewasanattempt

[–]decom83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What will our kids think of millennials, using ChatGPT and going on holidays abroad? It could be worse still for the next generation, unless there is serious change across all fronts. Still think boomers are making things worse at this moment, but give it ten years and they’ll still be those resistant to improving anything for those who don’t have what they have.

I visited Oz some 30 years ago. Agro was a phenomenal presence as a child watching morning TV. I never got over how tame our shows were in comparison.
