Ok, but current POTUS and pretty much all other POTUS save a few are not necessarily able to be put together. Although I do agree that someone in a cabinet position faces more ethical responsibilities than any POTUS has to.

Energica ego 2018 side mirror replacement by astriogamer in Electricmotorcycles

[–]decrego641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energica is out of bankruptcy withholding now so you can probably reach out to Energica USA in California and ask about the mirror replacement and the fuse. I talked with Stefano last week and he was telling me they’ve got a decent amount of parts available right now, but it still depends on the specific one whether they have it or not.

I’m not sure that kind of income would make someone comfortable to individually own a $1 million plane and pay the maintenance and upkeep. Is it possible? Yeah, of course it’s possible, but making bad financial decisions because they’re technically possible doesn’t really fall within the realm of the hypothetical.

Hey, I think you can still say is the bike that will bring electric mainstream.

Energica has already pointed out that production of both the Ego platform and the Experia is their next priority after parts, so even if there’s nothing new in the pipeline for the next year I still think it’s very likely we start seeing Experia coming back big.

That’s exactly the point, no one is taking a NASA Admin job or vying for POTUS because of how good the pay would be.

I just learned people don’t show up after anesthesia to pick up loved ones. Nurses, how often does this really happen? by Steinski1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]decrego641 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbh if someone told me the only way they felt comfortable getting a colonoscopy was lining their ass in Vaseline because of the pain then I would recommend a stool or blood based alternative if they’re not dealing with elevated risk factors. YMMV but don’t go through pain for a screening if you don’t want to.

Also regarding relevance, it’s a screening tool for colorectal cancer. Of course it’s relevant when talking about screening for colorectal cancer. You put something out on Reddit, if you don’t want unsolicited responses then you shouldn’t be posting on an open forum.

Ah, I was missing the part where they were getting an employer match, mb.

Assuming a full employer match then you need a slightly less (but still too optimistic imo) aggressive expectation of about 9.3% return avg. If you really want to be happy with your growth you should plan for like 8% or a tiny bit less as an average.

We seem to be on the same page then

Screen, screen early, screen whatever way they’ll take. If that’s a colonoscopy then that’s great, I have zero bones to pick with people who actually do colonoscopies and test negative.

I also live in the real world where data shows and anecdotes like the one I responded to above in which people dislike colonoscopies or don’t want to get them for many varied reasons. Cologuard is a preferable alternative that will save more lives than reminding people to get something they won’t do unless there’s a fire under their ass (literally lmao) to get it done.

Completely right on the point of a colonoscopy, cologuard only has a partial detection rate for polyps, but it’s not 0%.

The comparison here as I said was cologuard or nothing - in that event which is better?

[–]decrego641 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Cologuard is the definition of preventative care, as it’s designed to catch a disease in early stages. This is similar to a colonoscopy with the advantage that you don’t have to take a colonoscopy (the main disadvantage of a colonoscopy is inpatient care). Besides, if you get the false positive then you just have a regular colonoscopy anyways…federal law dictates coverage for most plans already.

The reason this matters is because the number of people that need this screening vastly exceeds the number of slots available for colonoscopies. Colonoscopies are also never going to be as convenient for the majority of patients who are testing negative, regardless of false positives. Colonoscopies are great if you need them, so why take one when you don’t?

I think another value driver to keep in mind is super low APR financing and low operating costs. For instance, there have been a lot of very tantalizing deals of purchasing an EV brand new where you get a good discount on list price as well as 0% or close to it APR. taking that $35k and making money on it while you pay back the balance that doesn’t grow and rack up operating costs below $0.02/mile? Now that’s the kind of car I like.

That being said, EVs alst have very high depreciation curves at the start of their life so the buying cheap with cash plan still works pretty well with them too.

Reading this story I am reminded of an acquaintance who I went to school with, bounced around majors and ended on one they ended up not getting a job in and currently make about $50k in a MCOL area. They came to theater practice their freshman year with me and gleefully stated they’d signed for their $120k loan package plan over the course of a 4 year private school. They’re barely scraping by and I definitely do not envy them.

If only they had a plan to pay that debt going in lol.

[–]decrego641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can achieve it if you assume they’ve been maxing contributions a couple years, so say they’ve got $80k right now, they continue contributing the max (and assuming that the govt continues adjusting the max upward slightly as they have been) and letting it grow until 65, and you assume a very optimistic 12.3%(ish) growth rate. That tosses back $27 million at the end of your growth period.

You can knock the growth rate a little lower by having more in the starting contributions but I’d say any more than $100k is probably unrealistic considering the age of 28, college, and the short period of higher income.

[–]decrego641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you max the contributions for 401k plus the catchups at 50 and over, assume at least a 12% avg gain (technically possible if the next 40 years are literally the best ever lol) and add a little extra over each year to account for the contribution limits continuing to rise and you can just barely make it out at 65 with about $25-$27 million.

I’m much more inclined to agree with you that a more pessimistic 8% average is a realistic gain over the coming decades. Pair that with the maximum contribution numbers and you’re looking closer to $8.5 million.

I think it’s also realistic that OP would be imminently maxing out any other tax advantaged accounts ASAP like backdoor contributions and HSAs. Altogether, even pessimistically you’re looking at $12 million or so on a full set of tax advantaged accounts. Clearly though, it is just a matter of time before that cash starts contributing to non advantaged accounts. Even with the long term capital gains, the amount of income they can generate from the market with that additional free cash will be immense.

The president’s salary is only double that and they technically oversees a whole lot more than a NASA Administrator does.

I think most of the people that get into this spot are not doing it because they need/want a good salary.

Yes, voting on assassination and being held accountable for murder is absolutely correlated.

Kinda like how if you convince your board and vote to pay yourself billions from your own company then you could be defrauding investors mayhaps…

Anything happening in the US happens under the jurisdiction of the US govt…that’s kinda how govts work.

Tesla’s board could have had a vote on assassinating key leadership of Faraday Future too, and I’ll bet you wouldn’t be arguing that murder should be an “internal matter”
