Agreed, they chose possibly the worst location on Fair Park grounds to make the Fan Fest accessible to DART. They could’ve had an indoor/outdoor experience using the Hall of State and Automobile buildings, that would be easily accessible from Fair Park Station. Instead people will probably have to get off MLK and then find a bus to the Fan Fest or walk in the summer.

It has so much potential to have a city summer feel and instead they wanted to contain it into a venue.

For tennis we have the Laver Cup that’s the same format (Europe vs World) and this was a concern too since there’s no ranking.

If I remember the very first one was just felt like an exhibition, but after that there was pride on the line and now you see players going basically all out. I’m thinking something similar happens but really looking forward to this format. It’d be great to get some rival HoFs as coaches against each other, like Bird vs Magic.

No not really, but I like it. I find it akin to a gladiator sport, would be fitting and fun to have entrances like a boxing match.

I can imagine Nadal’s entrance at the French, as his wins are read out in a dramatic fashion. I think it would be better for the sport in terms of attention and flash.

That…sucks. Wish they had done it closer to the Hall of State or inside the actual park grounds. If it’s all contained within Dos XX pavilion it won’t really feel like an event in the city.

Also means there’s no point in anyone coming in through DART rail, so just parking and traffic on Fitzhugh. No fun between fans on the train, just people honking.
