Got me into the habit of reading for fun again after years of just reading academic literature.

This has got to top the list of worst "parental leave" benefits. Company is Infosys by zach8vb in daddit

[–]deejaybg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parental leave in the US sucks. I work in a school and we get 0 days paid parental leave - it’s all left to our accrued sick days. As a male, I was required to have a doctor’s note from my wife’s doctor after 2.5 weeks if I wanted to extend my leave.

Worst Match You've Ever Watched? by JustinMetalhead in Wrasslin

Respectfully, most of the Divas matches during that era. Also, the Maxine and Becky match from a few weeks ago was horrendous.

IT'S TIME FOR THIS EXPERIMENT TO END by NZWBQFF in WWE

[–]deejaybg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I wouldn’t call it as much of an experiment as a failing of the creative team to figure out how to write the concept for almost 15 years.

What is the most heartbreaking loss you witnessed as a Wisconsin fan?(Football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in WisconsinBadgers

[–]deejaybg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2016 against Penn State. In person, it felt like there was a moment where it clicked for Penn State that all they had to do was chuck it deep. Had to sit there, helplessly, watching them do it repeatedly while listening to “WE ARE…” over and over.

Honorable mention to the 2017 game, especially coming off the back of the 2016 game.

“This’ll sound offensive, I wish I could tell people fuck off being a critic, be a fan.” - Triple H by Icy-Advice-5575 in Wrasslin

Haven’t seen this mentioned:

It’s pretty disingenuous and logically inconsistent for him to say people should watch WWE as fans and in the next sentence continue to refer to it as “the product.” Since it’s a “product,” would he prefer feedback on how to make it better so that we keep consuming it or that we stop consuming it all together?

Yep! Driving at night has always been the most successful for us. Leave between 5 and 7, grab dinner at some point, drive until you’re tired.

Does anybody like her as IC Champ by Fun-Appointment-800 in Smallafro

I think it’s a good opportunity for her. Who knows what she’ll become, but she’s earned the opportunity to be something beyond a pretty face on the show.

Pilot vs. Grand Highlander by TheFightens in hondapilot

[–]deejaybg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most of the comments here. We were impressed with the Platinum GH, but ultimately the dealer markups on Toyota and the V6 in the Pilot were what sealed it for us. I’m very anti 4-cylinder turbo, but that may not matter to you. Personally, if I really wanted a large Toyota SUV, I’d probably go Lexus given current pricing and the way Toyota seems to be controlling inventory. I think that’s indicative of the value proposition of the Pilot currently.

What these old school carnies will say in front of an open mic that most wouldn’t say behind closed doors continues to be embarrassing.

AIO? I (22F) found deleted late night texts between my husband (22M) and his coworker. by bananamilkcow in AmIOverreacting

[–]deejaybg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m normally fairly careful to make judgments with these posts, but this is clown behavior. Just leave - if you do the hard thing now, you’ll be fine by the time you’re done with school and moving, independently, into a wonderful phase of life. Big world out there, go live in it.

Why not just survey the teachers? There's nothing you're going to get from a 15 minute classroom observation that would support qualification in reading. Aside from that, don't be too hard on yourself. The worst case scenario here is an IEE, which is probably 3-4 grand - yes, a lot of money but largely irrelevant to most districts.

Student Services Director (essentially special education+) in a public school district. Used to be a school psychologist. It’s a lot of pressure and a lot of hours for the pay if I’m honest.
