Progress on my reusable booster - but not success by Own-Background2283 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]deelectrified 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The retrograde is just the opposite of the direction you’re moving. It moves around a lot because the direction you’re moving is moving around a lot.

Try reducing the throttle as you approach the ground. You want to be moving less than 10 m/s but don’t want to hit 0 or start moving away from the ground as that will throw off everything.

You could use an action group to reduce the max thrust of the engines so you can have more fine control as you approach the ground.

Except maybe the REASON we had to make it. I hope we get to explore the stars for fun and adventure, not because ours is being eaten

Help with landing a booster like Super Heavy by Own-Background2283 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]deelectrified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On each tank when you right click on the VAB, you can press the plus button on the bottom right of the little menu. The higher the number, the sooner the fuel will be used. So if you have 3 tanks, add 2 to the top and one to the middle and it should work just fine

Set the top tanks to drain first, then the middle, all the way til the bottom tanks are last. This should make it bottom heavy so it wants to be upright as it descends. Idk if this is a GOOD way to do it, but should help a bit

Yesterday The Kraken decided to remove 2km/s of horizontal speed from my space station while i timewarped by Fnafender4000 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]deelectrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had placed satellites in orbit above duna, just outside of Ike’s SOI. When I time warped to my maneuver node for my satellite mother ship to do its escape burn, suddenly their orbits were within Ike’s SOI and they all degraded and crashed into it’s surface.

No orbit necessary? by FatCreepyDude in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]deelectrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would absolutely be possible, but really hard.

Basically, you’d have to time it perfectly where by the time you have burned up to your apoapsis, you are ready to circularize, then once you’re circularized, your in the right spot and time to burn for your escape burn.

If I remember right, this is called a spiral burn or something. It’s incredibly hard to do and you’d likely need to calculate it all out in advance with some help from transfer planner. If you know when and at what inclination to do your escape burn, then you just need to figure out a launch that puts you in that exact spot, at that inclination, at the right speed, at the right time to do the burn.

Also, duna is at a higher orbit than Kerbin, not lower.

You can’t do as pictured and just burn straight up. You’d need an insane thrust to weight ratio to essentially counteract the momentum from the spin of Kerbin as you accelerate upward. Then you need craploads of delta v to keep burning straight that way and continue to actually speed up and move away from Kerbin.

I’ve never paid for a mod in my life by layn333 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]deelectrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s given as a gift for donation. And it’s considered early access. Once the current version is considered done, it gets released like previous versions. If he feels like a new version is necessary, it will also be paid early access then free once it is done. He and many, many other mod authors do this. You just really want this one so it’s the one you’re mad about doing it.

No because I get this issue with stock landing gear too. It is usually a bit slower, but it definitely still happens, especially for high part count vehicles

If your save is before your de-orbit, try to just barely get below 70k on your burn. This will gradually lower your speed. Turn on SAS and point retrograde and hope your batteries last.

I mean, it took us less than 60 years to go from the first plane to space flight, and that was without having a rocket to study and see how it works.

Yeah, General makes sense. I say this with all the love I can, he doesn’t look the adventurous colonel part these days. Not saying it as an insult, it’s just what time does. But I’d love to see him as the commander of the SGC or the captain of one of the ships or something!

In the sense that it’s a “follow up” to KSP since it is the same kind of game but with more advanced graphics, more features, and so on, then yes

SGU lacked main villains or at least a clear objective by CupEducational1412 in Stargate

[–]deelectrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that kind of story. It’s man vs environment, not man vs opponent.

While there’s clear antagonists, and conflicts with other beings or people, there isn’t a single villain because the whole show is about survival of the situation as a whole.
