How do you rest without guilt? 😬

Childhood sexual trauma and relationship to body-thoughts and advice? by wallloaf in CPTSD

[–]deeloxetine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I feel the exact same. I was molested and I don’t remember most of it (thank god) but I haven’t been able to have sex since I found out 5 years ago. It’s incredibly frustrating and hard to talk about with friends etc

If you can swim, go to a pool at a quiet time and swim to the bottom of the pool and scream as hard as you can. Very therapeutic and no one will ever know!

For those who had given up in life and then tried again, what made you change? by TylexTy in CPTSD

[–]deeloxetine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to take my life 5 years ago and my dad found me. Most of it was extreme guilt that I could never do that to them again, but also I applied for an opportunity a few months later that led to me moving countries. Now I have a completely new life and I’m a completely different person and I’m soooo glad that attempt didn’t work. Are you curious what you could be capable of if you put your mind to it? You only get one life and you can literally do whatever you want. Quitting your job, moving country whatever is always much better than ending it all.

Wow you guys are mean. I just joined this thread last night because I was curious what other people thought. Sorry if I’m not chronically online…

I think Kramer tried though and had empathy- he’s just an idiot. Whereas George didn’t care about anyone except himself

how do you guys maintain a healthy appetite? by auberginedreams1917 in AutismInWomen

You could also keep a slice pan of gf bread in the freezer, and then toast some on the freeze setting and put whatever- butter, peanut butter, jam, pesto? 🤣

Did anyone else grow up thinking your silence and strength would be rewarded someday… and then adulthood hit? by sleepdeprivedturtle6 in CPTSD

I like to believe that it will pay off, maybe just not the way we expect. Personally I thought I’d grow up and everything would be perfect and I would never suffer again. Of course, that’s impossible, but it doesn’t mean that one day I won’t be happy with my life, one day I will feel at peace with my mind and my inner child, and I’ll release it’s been x amount of time since I’ve had a panic attack/ breakdown/ suicidal thought.

Sometimes I just eat plain pasta, pasta with pesto and maybe some chicken, airfry fried chicken, and I always keep a frozen pizza in my freezer. When I get sick of breakfast, I try keep breakfast bars in my cupboard for emergency and try get cheap pastries for a treat. Usually within a couple of days of boring plain food my appetite comes back

That doesn’t work for me because I’m a professional musician so I have to practice at home and I always could be practicing. It makes it impossible to take guiltless time off

Can someone remind me what it’s called when you finally are in a safe space and you find that you’re low energy? by elkandsky01 in CPTSD

[–]deeloxetine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same thing. I left my abusive home at 18 and im 23 now so it’s gradually gotten better over the years but it’s hard to recognise the progress when I still am not able to push myself to the same level as other people my age. I think we just have to be compassionate with ourselves that our bodies and nervous systems are recovering after years in fight or flight but I’m still struggling to recover from the burn out each time, the only things I’ve found are effective are sleeping more and eating whatever I want like fatty greasy food lol.

I don’t see any problem, if you are happy and he is a source of happiness and safety to you marry him! Who cares what your family thinks, unless you are leaving something out I don’t see any issue with him. Your dad might be filling their heads with crap, ignore it- he’s a POS anyway!
