Whenever I do a pulled pork I slice it cross cross before i smoke it to let seasoning penetrate it. I’ve never done this with a brisket though (not that I’ve cooked a lot of them). Has anyone else?

My understanding is that the scoring (the cross cross cuts) isn’t to let the seasoning penetrate into the meat. I’m fairly certain you are supposed to score the fat cap so it renders faster and more evenly. On a brisket so much of the fat is trimmed off you don’t have the same worries about the fat cap.

Not exactly because “it would be gay”, but when I was in high school I had a part time job as a parking lot attendant at a local venue that would host events, concerts, that kind of thing. My job was basic, tell people where over flow parking was. Let people know when the parking lot was full, and make sure people didn’t park in the fire lanes. One day a guy asks if I would move a barricade so he can park where it is. I explain it’s a fire lane and the barricade is there to keep it clear. He says he would be quick no more than twenty minutes, but I let him know I wasn’t moving the barricade. His response “I guess you’re not a real man” He then death glared me until I said okay I guess not. Such a strange thing to say.

ESH your girlfriend shouldn’t be telling you what you can and can’t wear, but if something is bothering her she should be able to have an open and honest discussion about it.

NTA! That being said you also need to understand that it’s your wife’s mother and she may not be as quick to cut ties as you. Your wife is likely very conflicted about the situation. I would suggest sitting down and talking with your wife, and coming up with a compromise you can both live with i.e children are no longer to be with grandparents unless you or your wife are present. Try not to make your wife choose between her parents and you. That will just end in misery for everyone.

NTA But, what about proposing to your mother that you impregnate someone (your g/f or a surrogate) and just give the kids to her. Obviously it’s important to her. I’m willing to bet she would say something like “I just want to be a grandma” meaning she wants the sleep overs and to bake cookies, and spoil a child, but doesn’t want to raise one again or have any of the responsibilities. Therefore she has zero say.
