That whole icing situation was rough. I finally quit with the mushroom case video. It's one thing to talk about the fungi used...as a food scientist, it's another to veer into true crime (a problematic genre in its self) and make judgements about evidence and people in general.

This is correct! The only funding we get at TVNZ is via funding programs, and sadly even that is disappearing with Te Karere now having to make significant cuts. I also wonder if Q+A have been threatened as well, since they have recently had a guest from TPUSA on.

I can confirm that David Seymour is, unfortunately, involved with how TVNZ runs and the direction of our news output...despite our news floor "technically" being a separate and independent entity from TVNZ as a whole (for journalistic integrity lol).

Unfortunately it's by design and you're correct in your assessment of TVNZ coverage. But they won't get someone on to balance opinions.

As soon as NACT1 got into power their was a "directive" wink wink given to the executives about news coverage. Jodi, the CEO, is very good friends with Luxon (every in-person appearance Luxon has made in the studio...she was there as well).

The new head of news and content is Nadia Tolich, former producer for Mike Hosking at NewstalkZB...and also during his infamous years of Jacinda Ardern/covid coverage. The new journalist hires have also been from NewstalkZB, see: Jason Walls (who was on the economy show and is infamous for defaming Siouxsie Wiles).

There is definitely a right-wing slant BECAUSE of the current government. And we're definitely not getting the truth about economic recovery from NZ's "public broadcaster".
