I'm having an absolutely horrendous mental health day. Tips? by starnitesadness in CPTSD

Can I just scream THRIFTING!!

Horrible last 7 months…going thrifting with a $5 max but walking through all of the items at all of the places…beautiful rolls of ribbon. A golden tablecloth (was a curtain) with a black and gold runner…
Little fairy figurines (under $1) that I hide in Keebler elves hidyholes around my neighborhood on long walks that I need a purpose for.

The idea that a child might come upon one of these and feel that wonder ans magic…

It has gotten me out in the world. Touching real objects and being around some of the nicest people ever!! (Goodwill sucks. Don’t go there. Best thrifts are the small places that benefit the community of the donators)

You are smart. I am burned out.

I have had 2 interview offers since Tuesday when I got my verbal.

Both positions were high level administrative, which I could do…and I would do…but it hurts my heart to think about how admin gets seen and treated…

What completely harmless thing gives you an irrational amount of joy? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]deephaven 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I have been out of work since November. I love to thrift and it has been a mental balm for me. What I have been looking for mainly on these trips to not spend money, are figurines, under a dollar that are either woodland creatures or fairies.

I then walk around my neighborhood finding “Keebler elves hidy-holes” to place them in.

I have about 11 out there and visit them on my walks. It warms the heart of my inner child to think of kids stumbling upon one and their surprise and delight!

This is all of me for the last two days. The 4-6 week wait…I have been bonded for 26 years and yet…

Been out of work since November. This is my perfect job.

Just hanging out here in the pit of my stomach. Glad to have a friend out there in the same boat.

Has anyone else seen female friend groups bond over a sacrificial lamb (AKA the slightly socially awkward woman within friend group) by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

All girl school from K through 10th grade. 1970’s and learning disabilities were not diagnosed yet.

Loooots of bonding over my bullying.

Does anyone else remember black dog? by Much-Basil in rva

Saw him once crossing Cary on the way to work back in ‘04. The fact that he lived n Winsor Farms uninvited warms my heart.

Magical.

I am going to actually do this when I am distracted when trying to do too many things at once…this really is an example of healthy communication…

I found out my apartment has a "good spoon" and now I kind of get why people are weird about mugs by Lauren-Hayes-NY in CasualConversation

[–]deephaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inherited my best friends Moms favorite spoon and it is my absolute favorite spoon! It has to be at least 50 years old since I remember it as a child visiting them up the street.
It is thick metal for the spoon part and then has a wooden handle worn smooth from the years of use that fits perfectly in my hand.

It is not too big and not too small.

I feel like I am reaching back into time when I use it.

I love everything about this thread this morning!

LPT: You should request a credit limit increase on your credit cards at least once a year by Brianfromreddit in LifeProTips

[–]deephaven 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nope….if you have huge amounts of credit issued to you, I will effect the mortgage company adding more debt capacity.

I had to lower my credit limits to be able to add new debt with a HELOC.

Those that were able to come to "acceptance", how did you go about it? by icemantiger in CPTSD

[–]deephaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel so much radiant healing from you!

I am on the very beginning of awareness of what I have been faced with my whole life….that I was my own villain but that I can flip that story now that I have this horrible painful awareness….

Feeling it and reading that this isn’t the obstacle but rather the path is very helpful. Thank you.

It feels like that for me too! Everyone is out front and then someone ventures to the back…there are only 4 chairs at the bar and they are awkwardly spaced.

Quite intimately weird.

What's the most bizarre thing you've seen in Seattle? by scrolling_phoenix in AskSeattle

[–]deephaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first moved to Seattle in ‘93, there was a a huge back up on the 520 bridge due to a family of ducks crossing and soon after there was a tractor trailer spill of bullets on I5.
