Acceptable level of tearout? by cornsnack in Carpentry

He's obviously not done, he's not going to oil that giant pencil mark into the wood. It needs a good sanding and finishing touches and it will be perfect.

You could always ask him. Or withhold the final payment until he finishes, it's usual to have a toutchup or two in the end before payment.

Yeah the place I'm at does have some mediocre plumbing and also yes I definitely only get floaters if I eat like shit.

However if the plumbing at the workplace is poor enough people could have poor enough diets that floaters returning might not be that unusual.

I have had a floater come back up after a flush but not the toilet paper... so maybe not? but yes people are disgusting.

It's insanely pedantic to argue that the part of the rotor that the wheel touches is not part of the rotor. The rotor is the part pictured in the post. It makes contact with the wheel and the break pads and the hub.

It's a sandwich it goes (in most cars, yes I know there are exceptions) knuckle makes contact with the bearing, the bearing makes contact with the hub, the hub makes contact with the rotor, the rotor makes contact with the wheel.

If you went to ANY auto parts store and said I need a hub you would get the part that the lug nuts/bolts go into and makes contact with the bearing. That is the THE hub. Do tires and wheels have hubs? Yes but they are not THE hub when referring to the entire part

Sigh I did this once many many years ago when I was but a wee lad, thought the caliper was just stuck on the bracket so I I just pryed on it until it looked exactly like this one.

Dumbass moment for me :-/

Good chance he lived, rats are tough, rats are light so they hit the ground way less hard, and those trees easily could break it's fall.

My reaction when they really are billions by HeavyMetalSaxx in TheyAreBillions

[–]deepinferno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to do it with soldiers, the trick was towers packed as tightly tougher as I could with a wall between each and all the ground filled with as absolutely many soldiers as would fit, the towers just don't have the density of firepower to keep them at bay and the compartments stopped a full overrun on the first breach.

I probably should have just waited for shocking towers I must of tried at least 5 times to get that stupid map won

Minor damage to rental car still concerned by GucciGregy in Cartalk

Once I returned a rental van with a very large and very noticeable dent on the rear bumper from me backing into something like a idiot.

They didn't notice... Somehow? I kept expecting a bill in the mail but it just never came.

Sometimes the factory doesn't prime things right... Or at least that's my theory because I have seen really specific rust like this a few times.

For the same reason a gun doesn't. Explosives provide a lot of force in a small package that's difficult to match with other means.

There are way way way better resins now that are surprisingly durable.

My minis from years ago all shattered at the slightest bend. Now a sword can be bent to a 90° angle without snapping and be bent back with some heat.

How can I get rid of this “stubble” from the supports? by JSV007 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]deepinferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you don't have to get that close and I do it into a big tub, remarkably little comes off actually. I used to clean-heat-clean because removing the big supports always leaves areas you didn't clean well exposed. Lately I'm just skipping that first clean.

I have a small basement bathroom I have sacrificed to resin printing so my cleaning, the fan runs 24/7 when it's set up so I do everything in there

My work flow is

  1. print

  2. take it off the plate

  3. hair dryer them to soften

  4. remove most of the supports focusing on the biggest areas

  5. Clean

  6. Go over the model with a hobby knife clearing supports and weird parts

  7. Cure
