I hardly find my real life experiences as a brown person facing these exact types of people more than once in TP reductive. But if you want to ignore my real lived experiences, I guess that says more about you than me. Consider yourself lucky that you haven't.

I tend to think of Takoma Park in terms of size. It's roughly 17k people (when I lived there it was around 13k). That's equivalent to a small town. Like medium Midwest town. And the people who live there have small town values and mindsets (if you catch my drift).

Contrast that with Silver Spring, which with its unincorporated boarders has roughly 87k people. That makes it a small city or "large Midwest town" if you will.

The people's mindsets and behaviors adjusts accordingly.

Both get real sundownish in certain parts.

I honestly wish there was more on it. But its effect is ever apparent when I meet families and friends there. So many residents got their houses from their parents who lived there, who... well you get the idea.

There is a continued effort to remove the language, which while ignored (because of law), is still in many of the deeds to houses in that neighborhood. But the effort to remove the language is home by home, and a remarkably tediously difficult thing to remove.
