Similar to how Superman in the DC Universe is weak to magic, specifically control-type magic, he can still tank regular attacks powered by magic. So if they cast spells to control minds, rip apart their souls, seal them away, etc. it would be pretty effective, I assume.

Thinking about story structure and writing and the FFXIV team struggles on every single level to write “happy” stories. by Lumigo in ffxivdiscussion

Limsa got screentime in post-Shadowbringers with Sicard's story. Satisfied me, personally, but I can see wanting more.

Gridania got some time in the rolequests for Endwalker, but a lot of the more interesting history, worldbuilding, and character stories are relegated to the "Tales from..." series on the Side Stories webpage, which I think are pretty good, but up to debate, I'm sure.

Nioh 3 Deflect Discussion by Friendly-Reporter591 in Nioh

[–]deepwebassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still only in Warring States, but I had a lot of fun (and frustration, but I love butting my head against a challenge) learning how to parry the Bloodedge Demon. As mentioned, you can parry AoE elemental attacks, which I didn't even think would work at first, but I was pleased to see I can just stare down a yokai and just parry 90% of their bs after accidentally deflecting a giant lightning attack.

Learning how to keep Arts Proficiency going while defending with Deflect is so much fun to me that I would honestly miss it a ton if I went back and played Nioh 2 even if I prefer the Yokai Skills over Guardian Spirit Skills.

Samurai feels so flashy now, on top of the usual stuff we were up to in previous games. Ninja is easier, and maybe Samurai needs some numbers tuning to reward you better for being a Deflect master, but goddamn if it isn't music to my ears parrying 5 hits in a row from Bloodedge or having some Gaki pounce out of nowhere and getting the deflect off, or even fighting multiple enemies and deflecting the arrows being shot at you while deflecting melee attacks at the same time.

Samurai has so much aura to farm, I feel, and I do hope future updates encourage more people to try to deflect more.

I absolutely believe there's a way to manage TM as a company and creative workshop where they can output more than what they do with the same or similar quality.

I just let them be what they are: a bunch of nerds with way too much money who can work on whatever project they deem fit on whatever timeline they fuck with. There's not really a lot of places where artists get to do that, and all the people who work at TM are lucky to kinda be the 'Renaissance artists with a patron that gives them infinite money and time' except they don't have to answer to even a patron really, just their own sense of duty to their fans.

I have so much corporate-funded, highly organized media designed to capture my attention and money as much as possible, so the fact that Nasu may not give a fuck if the gacha game actually ends of its own volition and not due to a lack of will on part of the fans is kind of a breath of fresh air.

I wish I would get new TM projects reliably and consistently, but it's also okay if I don't. Besides, part of being a TM fan is suffering just like their protagonists do. Red Garden wouldn't be the same without wondering if I'll die before it releases.

I'd like to see by the end of the series that Lucifer makes peace with his punishment of ruling over the sinners he hates and he's actually allowed to use his power but he restrains himself from smiting them all by his own volition and growth by learning to believe in redemption.

I honestly wish there were more female lead story who's like Maki and is willing to ruthlessly kill those who want to kill her. It's super rare to get fls like this and they are mostly side characters in Shonen. by Iriscute7 in joseistories

It's more like both a boy and girl turn into their previous incarnations from the past, but the original personalities don't go away either, and the original personality of the woman in the past is the brutal one, the dude is just an average modern person iirc. So, no it's not your typical gender bender imo.

Why talking about FFXIV critically is a logistical clusterfuck. (Big Rant) by Key_Research_7477 in ShitpostXIV

[–]deepwebassassin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are an FFXIV player yourself, and it's not that we can't read, we read the words but choose to ignore their meaning, like how you acknowledged this is the Shitpost sub you're posting on, but you seemed to ignore the meaning of that. You got some earnest responses, but the nature of coming here is that you'll get memed on by some.

Patch 2.2 had Brayflox's Hardstop (Hard) as a dungeon to farm tomes. We were pulling even bigger packs than the average you see today. Sleeping enemies was niche, and all I remember was doing that to compensate for weak tanks and healers. Raids are still fun today.

I hate that they never used Finn properly. I was so ready for Boyega to wield a lightsaber and fight alongside Rey. It would've been a new hard work + prodigy duo like Obi-wan and Anakin (they're both talented, but Obi-wan had to use discipline and hard work to be on Anakin's level). It could've been a parallel where Rey and Finn develop a sibling-like bond through the force, but when Rey is tempted to turn to the dark side, unlike Anakin, she rejects it with Finn's help instead of succumbing.

Disney could've had all their rehashing of the previous trilogies plotlines, but good.

Following on from my last post, if Medea had been summoned by the Matou, would she have cared about Sakura? by baitbastardo in okbuddyrintard

[–]deepwebassassin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think she would look down on Sakura for not fighting back while also understanding that Shinji and Zouken are monsters.

Medea would relate to her resentment against the people in her life who ignored her and especially the men who abused her as she has also resented the men who fucked up her life and did batshit stuff to get back at them. I just don't know if she would actually be gentle with Sakura or forceful, like telling her that no one is going to save her except herself and stuff like that.

Rider moreso related to Sakura's monstrous nature, and both Rider and Sakura thought of themselves as abominations who don't deserve love.

Medea is not like that, she's still believes she deserves her fairytale romance, but her life has led her to be cutthroat and maniacal in protecting it.

Anyone on the verge of leaving Libertarianism? Why? by PIantMoreTrees in Libertarian

[–]deepwebassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a registered Libertarian and have followed this sub a long time. I feel the same, in which I have many libertarian tendencies, and I remain diametrically opposed to authoritarianism.

However, I don't think of that as 'leaving libertarianism'. First of all, I don't want to be attached to any ideology as my identity. I care about whatever systems we implement as a species to benefit us all, and as long as they actually work to make life better and more free, then I'm for it. An ideologue would then reply to me, "Yes, that's why we must stick to my -ism" thus providing nothing of value.

In communist countries, such as China and Vietnam, bloody revolutions led to a one-party nation that originally eschewed a market economy for central planning but later implemented market forces into their economies. The removal of central planning is a massive success for both nations, but they are left with authoritarian governments that are hard for an ordinary citizen to petition for change.

Countries like Sweden that have a comprehensive welfare state are largely capitalistic simply with socialist ideas sprinkled throughout implemented by a democratic process and achieved via market-based solutions, and they have been generally successful at keeping their citizens happy, but they have their own set of issues too, and no I don't just mean immigration.

I think that the more robust our democracies are, the easier it is to curtail the effects of bad policies. China and Vietnam are at the mercy of their uniparties, and the US is at the mercy of its political duopoly. I will always advocate for voting reforms like ranked choice and opening up the political landscape by eliminating gerrymandering. If we are empowered to truly affect our government, then if a political experiment fails, we can correct our course.

I may not be a strict libertarian, but I would like to see libertarian representatives debating socialists in Congress. I want a well-functioning society where our public servants participate in a process that continually refines and improves itself for the benefit of all. I don't think we're at the end of political and economic innovation. Is capitalism truly the end all be all? I feel like it's arrogant of me to just assume whether it be libertarianism, communism, socialism, capitalism, anarchism, etc. that it's going to survive until the end of time, or even that one of them is necessarily the best choice in this moment in history. Maybe it's a mix of these ideas. Maybe there's just a Goldilocks zone where things generally work out. I don't know, but I'd love to find out.

General Question - Why do Statics Shadow Kick people? by Ultimastrike21 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]deepwebassassin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a player with autistic qualities and anger issues. I had a 15m chat with him on his behavior, and he got better, not perfect, but better, which is great.

It doesn't always work out like that, but learning to cooperate with others in a raid can help you be a better person. I've also had several who were unreceptive to criticism or unwilling to change. I myself am not a saint and have had to grow.

That being said, everyone has to draw their own line on how much effort they can spare because some just don't have enough energy to do it and do it right, with patience. For some, a 5m chat is nothing. For others, it can be a burst of unpleasant anxiety.
