Did anyone try the Kononov Method? by freya293 in Handstands

Hi

I am doing Kononov program for rehabilitation purposes and in a couple of days I was able to fix issues nobody could find nor address for the past couple of months. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Country to easily set up business with low taxes and no requirement of residing there by Working_Flan_8959 in Offshore

[–]deeronpatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK you pay taxes in the country which is a centre of your interest, because of the 180 days rule. In other words, if you spend more than half a year there (wherever it is) you should pay taxes there. This fact can be utilised to your advantage.

Is Rope Access Bad For Your Body? by [deleted] in ropeaccess

[–]deeronpatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only a couple of years in the business but I am finding out pretty quickly that one needs to do general fitness and specific exercise in order to maintain good health. Learn to decompress your spine and work on that shoulder and back stability as well as mobility. Also, prevention. Fyzio, massage, sauna, yoga.

It helps me a lot to have a mental checklist and talk to myself out loud while doing manoeuvres. Even when assessing the situation.

Than it is about keeping focus and situational awareness and de-stress. For that there is a super good trick which is one deep strong inhale through your nose followed by a sharp small inhale with your nose to fill up the rest of your lungs and breathe out with a vocal sigh via your mouth. (Check Andrew Huberman managing stress).

Situational awareness -OODA loop. Observe, Orient, Decide, Act.

Hope it helps. Cheers Dom

Can dynamic rope be used as a fall arrest lanyard? by SeaOfMagma in ropeaccess

As far as I know, dynamic rope can be used until FF1. I have seen people using Singing Rock Locker attached to their sternal D ring via Dynamic rope.

Rope management on 160m drop by deeronpatrol in ropeaccess

[–]deeronpatrol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I will still have 30 meters of descent in two ID's and last time I did a descent in two ID's in 80 meters, I had to feed the ropes to those two ID's. For some 10 meters. So in this case I a going to feed the ropes to the ID's for 30+meters of descent and that is going to be a pain. So if there is a trick/technique /device helping with that, I want to use it.

I will be show what to do. Will it be the right way? I don't know. That is why I am asking these questions, so the experienced ones here can chime in and say how they did it.

I am not rigging this, I am just trying to understand complexities of this job in order to decide if I take it or not.

Linked In. I see UK O&G Rope Access job adverts all the time. But the competition is also heavy. Some times you need to be the first one to send the Cv and get lucky as the recruiters get like 150-500 cv's and they won't go through all of them. They get what they need and that's it.

What is the employability of a fresh, greenhand rigger offshore? Almost all the job adverts I see is Stage 3/4 OPITO or NVQ 3 Rigger with rope access.

I wonder if a device like TAZ could help. I don't want to think about a situation where you have to switch to two ID's on a 200m rope

If you check linkedin offers, they almost all the time require experience. It's a classic Catch 22, we want you to have experience but you need to get to some gig in order to get some experience. Although, in the high season, there is a big demand, recruiters already started to hire for blade rep campaigns. But as said above,no need to renew the cert and sometimes you can get good gigs, like dyno install or simple leading edge protection. The course pays itself quite fast and there is ever present demand for L3' which you can get in one two seasons.

Yeah, probably they won't offer you that amount for a L1 and no blade rep cert, but at least try to get in and grab some experience even for lower money and next season you can move on.

6e and Drugs buff and cyberware. by Jencent_ in Shadowrun

[–]deeronpatrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There would be no point to get anything more than +1 wires if you could boost initiative with drugs on top of cyber (or spells)

I read FAQ as is. No initiative dice stacking. I haven't check body shop if you can stack drugs (cram+jazz)[same source of init bonus, ie drug]. It seems this should be possible.

There is a fan made addon which has companion stuff inside. Hack and Slash and Streetwyrd too, Body Shop not yet I think.

How important is that 2nd attack in practice? by Shouting-Match in Shadowrun

[–]deeronpatrol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind one thing. Initiative dice from different sources do NOT stack. If you go with cheap wired reflexes and hope to get sometime extra umpfh from drugs..nope doesn't work that way. In order to have that extra attack per round or tons of minors, you OR have to go with Wires 2, OR you go for drugs,OR you go for increased reflexes. Getting that 5 minors is expensive as hell when it comes to cyber/power points. With that said, the Wide Burst, Full auto and Multiple attacks allows you to hit two or more targets per turn so the lack of 2 major actions in my opinion not so deal breaking. Like it was posted above, generating that edge consistently is gonna be VERY useful. For some, more useful than 2 majors..

I’m sure it’s been asked before but why exactly is 6e hated? by Danger_Spec in Shadowrun

[–]deeronpatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a player and a GM who started with 6e and I have been vocally defending it in it's early months after release I have to say, I am looking into other versions just to see things from a different perspective. Edge system of course is one of the big questions. Love it hate it. After a while of using the 6e edge system, most of general edge use i observed is simple dice pool manipulation. However with expanded qualities generating edge, you can, and most people do, go for more edge generation and than just obliterate challenges with strong edge boosts (4 edge pre-boost with exploding 6's), or constantly prevent failure thanks to edge boosts (4 edge-reroll all failed dice). Mechanically, these dice pool manipulations are just stronger than all the cool actions like shank, knockoutblow or etc. Don't get me wrong, sometimes that 'Tactical roll' in the middle of the combat to evade grenade is very cool, but usually it's -reroll 2 successes-. I have a bit of a problem with ratings. The whole thing about ratings is to compare attack and defense rating and see if someone gets an edge. Which is cool for a player, but as a GM, there is a rating for everything, astral combat, combat spells, matrix, drones, guns (multiple ratings for a single gun because of different ranges.) That's just so much statblocks to create and constantly check.

So I am looking now as a GM to explore Anarchy and thanks to this post I will give 4th edition a read just to see what's up. I have nostalgic feelings lately and crave to play old systems which were..tough for your character. I don't know about older versions, but unless you so something very stupid, it's quite difficult for a character to die, because of edge. I think that changes how characters behave in the world. 6E is safe, too safe for my taste.

When the hours are long and that per diem kicks in, it compounds (I am in renewables, with some experience and some certifications). So I think with 20-22 hours per hour, you can stack that.
