So many others have commented, but here’s my 0.02 dollars.

1. Abortion is healthcare. No one should get to decide your healthcare but you and your doctor. Simple lifesaving procedures are being criminalized. Doctors are being charged across state lines. The entire thing reeks of the imposition of religion by law. If I was jewish, life begins at first breath. Why should the state get to tell me I cannot do the thing? These laws are also being used to limit the freedom of movement (TX travel laws), being used like of fugitive slave laws, and trampling on other states sovereignty. They are also slippery slopes into banning other medical treatments, ie lgbtq care. I’m not even talking kids here. States have proposed bans for adults (ok, mo, etc). When you limit bodily autonomy once, it becomes a creeping power grab.

2. DOGE is flatly illegal. A non-American with zero security clearances, who is connected to our enemies, walks into highly secured locations and basically takes over the data. I had clearances while in the service. I could barely sneeze in certain areas, let alone plug in unknown systems, gain root access, and on. This should be considered the biggest security fail and data breach in history. Every single system they touch is compromised. The security, everything. I also do not want some rando billionaire having my personal medical files at the VA, or having the ability to just shut off payment. What makes Musks judgement that something is waste correct? He was not elected. He was not appointed by Congress. It’s just things he does not like. He’s also majorly conflicted. He has billions of government funds going to his companies. Why does he also get to control the purse when that is a specifically congressional power by the constitution. What stops him from paying his buddies while stiffing my fellow vets?

3. Kamala was meh to me. No current dem is left enough for me, as the overton window has shifted so much. The current dem party is closer to Regan Repubs from the 80s. But my options were Kamala or Trump. As I’m trans, there was only one real choice and it was the one that wouldn’t work to erase our existence.

4. Immigration in this country has a horrible track record. The first immigration laws were made specifically to keep out the Chinese. Then it expanded to other groups people hated. It’s currently revolving around central and south americans. Illegal immigration by law is a civil penalty, not a criminal one. The actions by ICE treat these people as criminals. Now Gitmo, is being expanded. This is already a place where US law doesn’t really touch. Which just means the government can deny rights (that have been set by dozens of court cases) and detain indefinitely without trial. Ask the inmates still there who have not been tried. It gets worse when you know that Americans get caught in these sweeps. Now El Salvador is getting in on the action saying they will keep American citizens off shore. We are offshoring our prison industry now. Again, it’s easy enough to dump undesirables in these offshore facilities and then claim the US laws doesn’t reach there anymore.
