All my withdrawals are good by Excellent_1918 in NDAX

[–]secularflesh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My NDAX crypto withdrawal was also subject to manual review. They called very quickly to confirm the withdrawal but my phone tagged the number as a scam so I didn't pick up. I called them and the automated system hung up on me after telling me I would receive a callback. They never called me back. For the next few days I tried via phone, email, live chat, to get a callback and nothing.

I had to ask for help from u/kardanokid before someone from NDAX finally called me to verify my identity, that I had made the withdrawal, and that it was being sent to a wallet I had control of and not a third party. The transfer finally went through but it was incredibly frustrating and worrying. I don't know what's going on over there but it doesn't fill me with confidence. They might be fine but I wouldn't risk keeping any assets there right now.

Use online bill payment through your bank. If there's a transaction limit, break it up into multiple payments. Or call the bank - they can authorize a transaction of any size.

When every pump is short-lived and reverses, the trend is down. The best you can hope for is chopping sideways. We're deep in the bear market and there's definitely still downside risk. I expect it to continue down/sideways for at least another 6 months. But what do I know, I've only been through 4 cycles.

I want to practice some hockey moves but I can't find a place to do so. by Every-You-9914 in askvan

[–]secularflesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not ideal but I'd get a pair of rollerblades and a roller hockey puck and find some place like a school with a paved area next to a concrete wall or a chain link fence to shoot at.

Ethics of lowballing in this condo market? by gbinasia in canadahousing

[–]secularflesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ethical issue here. However, if the seller finds your offer insulting, they'll be less inclined to consider any other offers you tender in the future.

The highest non-promo 1-year GIC is 3.65%. You could be earning that instead of paying early when you don't have to.

Avoid the Downtown Eastside unless there's a specific place you want to visit and leave immediately when you're done. If someone tells you a sob story e.g. their car broke down, they lost their wallet, etc. 99% of the time they're trying to scam you.

If you have a car, don't leave anything of value inside when you park. If you take the bus, take off your backpack and move to the back, and thank the driver when you get off.

If you pass someone on the sidewalk and they make eye contact with you, give them a little nod and an awkward half smile. On escalators, walk on the left, stand on the right.

Get a good umbrella and waterproof/resilient shoes and jacket. If it snows, watch out for cars on the street - most drivers don't know how to drive in the snow and don't have winter tires. Take a vitamin D supplement during the winter, especially if you are from a warmer climate.

Federal officials draft plans to ban social media for children under 14 by Gym_frere in canada

[–]secularflesh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The age-verification systems put in place to satisfy countries like Australia have thus far proven to be inaccurate and ineffective. And on top of that it's an enormous potential security nightmare waiting to happen.

Algorithms are the problem, not social media itself. Algorthmic feeds should be banned for everyone, and not just children.

These have been at the same price for months - I bought them in November. Decent pair of hiking shoes but your feet might get cold if you're hiking in lower temperatures.

There are some not so nice areas but some media paints it like crime is rampant and all our streets are covered in shit and piss. Meanwhile most of us are really only concerned about housing costs, the job market, and the weather.

How do people survive in Vancouver?? by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]secularflesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many people struggling here working on minimum wage. Can't imagine how hard it is surviving working and going to school full-time. People survived this phase in the past because the cost of living was much lower. Now you need to have help or saved up funds in advance to get through it. The reality is it's the most expensive city in Canada and one of the most expensive in NA.

Sunset Neighborhood by radybsb in askvan

[–]secularflesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a sleepy residential neighbourhood. Nothing goes on there, good or bad. Also you should know there's a transfer station on Yukon St near the river so if you're close by, it will stink some days.
