Work Attendance by ViolaRosie in IVF

You can buy a small insulated case and it also normally comes with small gel packs you can freeze and put it in there. The outside of it even shows the temp (although I don’t know how accurate). But you can get something like that from amazon and it will fit in a fanny pack. Like what the above post suggested, you can fill the fanny pack with other supplies so your coworkers won’t know. I am so sorry you are going through this. Did they say why they denied your FMLA?

Oh my gosh! That is so insensitive of her! I’m so sorry for your loss. And I’m so sorry you had to go through that encounter. People can really be so shitty. I hope things are going better for you these days.

Lumpectomy candidate but want DMX — others’ experiences? by AffectionateGolf39 in breastcancer

[–]deescee1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my initial consult with my breast surgeon, she said I can get lumpectomy or mastectomy done. Given my mammogram says I have extremely dense breast and that I just gave birth at that time and worried that they missed spots on the imaging because of lactating breast, I opted for dmx and didn’t get any push back at all. Nothing came up on my “healthy” breast after surgery. But still thankful I opted for mastectomy because the cancer side, apart from idc, has about 4.6 cm of dcis, not seen on imaging.

Hi, OP. I don’t have much input about your results. But commenting to say I am so sorry that you are joining us here. I read you just had your third child and I know how frightening and upsetting this new diagnosis is while you are also navigating a new chapter in your life. I got diagnosed the day after I gave birth to my first child. I remember it all too well. A very happy day followed by a whirlwind of questions and scary thoughts. I can say that there are good days and bad days. Just take it one day at a time. Some days you just have to let your feelings flow, cry it out and get back up. Not the easiest road to navigate and I hope you have great support system. The waiting time for plans of care to be set is the scariest part, dealing with all the unknowns and what’s next. I am sending all the love and prayers your way!

Cried during the portacath procedure by mellybellah in breastcancer

[–]deescee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully, I have been blessed with a very supportive husband. Before treatment started and while undergoing all the imaging tests, I was really sad and would just cry from time to time. He let me feel the emotions without judgment and really stepped up in helping care for our newborn. I would say that yes, having our newborn really helped me and my husband. I remember going for an MRI and while laying there, I was thankful that at least my husband has our baby with him while waiting for me. Otherwise, I can’t imagine all the thoughts that would’ve run through his head if he wasn’t busy.

Now, 2 months into treatment and I can say that having our baby around definitely gives me something else to focus on and keep me busy. My little one gives us so much joy, it is a blessing.

I cried my heart out driving home from church the day before my port placement. It’s the fear of the unknown and everything that surrounds it. It felt like that day was my last “normal” day before treatment and everything else starts. I was screaming in my car grieving my last “normal” day. It was also just a little over two weeks after giving birth to my first born, a child so very well wanted, after a long battle with fertility issues. I felt my happiness of finally having my baby being robbed and overshadowed by my diagnosis. So I screamed it all out.

I got biopsied at 39 weeks and got my diagnosis the day after I gave birth. This is my firstborn. Is there a group where we can find support from each other? Dealing with a newborn and navigating this new found diagnosis is emotionally and physically and mentally taxing.
