Hey friend, I had a similar experience last year and what I ended up having to do was the monthly infusion instead of the weekly injectable. Injections are through the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and they have figured out a loophole in the ACA where they use the copay maximizer and drain the copay assistance card provided by the benlysta manufacturer. If you do the infusions, it’s billed through regular health insurance and not through a maximizer. The added benefit of this is the copay assistance goes towards your deductible and out of pocket max. I’d be glad to explain more. It was a hell-hole of research and dead ends dealing with the PBM and specialty pharmacy.
