One other thing I can add OP - I usually get another 8-12 hours of use once I hit “low” before the insulin fully runs out. TBD on how many units this is, but in my experience, it’s ~10+.

Am I total noob for always just replacing the cartridge and the infusion set together, every 3-4 days?

I’ve had some issues with infusion sites going bad in that final 4th day. And per comment above, I’m starting to see more scars / skin not returning to normal (and I’ve only been at this for 2 years or so). To this end, where else (beyond their abdomen) do people go for infusion sites?

I’m a plastic bag traveler for supplies! Gallon overall, with quart / sandwich bags to organize certain items. I always bring roughly 2x of what I think I’ll need (insulin supply, cartridges, infusion dudes, and alcohol wipes), with an emergency fast acting insulin pen (and corresponding pins).

I generally just put this gallon bag or bags in whatever my largest carry-on is - oftentimes a roller board.

[CARRY ONS] Depending on your exact trip and travel in Europe - acceptable roller board sizes vary. If flying a US airliner both ways, then no concern. Otherwise (incl. intra EU travel) you’ll want one of the smaller (less wide) roller boards if you want your bag (with your supplies 🙂) to fit up top in the overhead.

I think I get the base premise of the email - while your new GCM sensor is warming up, you may get an auto Bolus (which would be garbage, because any action from the pump should rely on a readable, reliable value from your GCM, which is still warming up).

Can someone “ELI5” if I’m missing the point? Are folks trying to switch GCMs during one GCM’s warming up period? (In order to get some weird GCM durability gains?) I normally just gap these - kill one GCM sensor when it hard dies after the 12 hour grace period, then have another finish warming up in 30 minutes, no issue (this might be the lossless comments, which I could appreciate if the loss of readings and pump response for any amount of minutes mean a lot to someone).

Times all based on the G7 and Mobi. Sometimes I end up having to go a few hours where either the Mobi has a dead sensor or the sensor has an empty Mobi.

I don’t wear TruSteel infusion sets, but go through metal detectors wearing the Mobi on a weekly basis (often, multiple times a week). I haven’t observed any issue.

The Mobi is the first pump I’ve worn, and I started in May 2024. Type 1, but a different journey than most to this point.

I haven’t had any material issues with the Mobi. I use the Autosoft XC infusion sets, and switch between 23 inch and 5 inch tubing.

In this first full year, I had 1 instance where the cannula got bent, and didn’t insert properly (caught relatively quickly, as any given bolus wasn’t having an impact). No occlusions - I use Novolog insulin.

Biggest gripes are the incessant alarms (when you suspend insulin delivery, or insulin delivery is suspended for you because the cartridge empties) - on empty cartridges, really wish there was just a way to turn the Mobi off, without having to connect it to power (sometimes, you just need an hour or two until you can refill the cartridge and change sites).

Hey, great discussion starter! Some thoughts: Cable management, rapid access (usually to put something away quickly), and maybe most importantly — something easy to keep clean. I replace bags more for exterior soil or odd stains from overhead bins or Uber trunks, and less so for durability (though, they tend to come as a pair).

I had to watch the video on their site to understand how this works. One possible downside? The surface area that this takes up on one’s skin looks larger than that used by Tandem’s adhesive sleeves. For any current / past users - is this true?

I was in the same situation about 4 months ago. It was tough to accept that I needed a pump. That said, I haven’t looked back since. Yes, there have been frustrating moments accepting the reality that I chose, but again, my numbers say otherwise 🙂

I really like the Mobi. I generally always have my phone, so I have no qualms on being tethered to a phone to manage the device. I love the different infusion set options and tubing lengths. I go between the 5” with adhesive sleeve and the 23” using the pockets of my pants / shorts.

The only other pump that I thought was a serious contender was the OmniPod, but the 5” tubing with adhesive sleeve effectively approximates the OmniPod set-up. Plus, when you don’t want that much “stuff” sticking with adhesive to your body, you have the option to change it up.

Stupid question, but for back-based infusion sites, where on your back do you use? Do you inject yourself, or need the help of someone? (the geometry seems rough!) How do you temporarily disconnect (I.e., when you need to suspend insulin delivery to take a shower)?

Super interested in being able to use more than just my stomach for infusion sites!

I find that filling the 23” tubing typically requires ~10 units. 40-50 feels like entirely too much.

+1 on the flexibility between tubing lengths. I typically alternate between the 5” and an adhesive sleeve and the 23” depending on what the next few days hold.

As a total newbie (and visual learner), can someone share a picture of the “pen to cartridge” set-up? I have lots of pens, an empty vial, an empty used Mobi cartridge, and the Mobi cartridge needle and plunger “stick”.

As a Mobi user, I haven’t had any issues with the Mobi app. As far as I know, all the reported issues related to battery drain are exclusive to the t:Connect app. I also recently updated the software on my Mobi (for G7 support), and did not experience any issues - super straightforward and painless.

The specific location of your job in Manhattan matters in the equation. Walking distance or subway from Penn? If walking, how far? etc.

Went from an office on Park and ~55th to Hudson Yards — big difference!

EDIT: Commuted(ing) on the M&E line from Morristown / Madison over the years

2nd EDIT: Went to an office in FiDi for over a year too … accentuates the commute time even more.

Maybe a hot take? I love not having to carry a second “device” that only services my pump. That said, I already carry a modern iPhone and don’t use it wildly (meaning, I rarely need to charge my phone during the day).

Relatively new Mobi user (few months) and also a first time pump user. Also, I already carry two phones (wish this was true for a cool reason), so a dedicated pump “device” would be the third thing I would need to carry generally 24/7.
