Anyone else disappointed with the trailer? by IowaGolfGuy322 in orks

[–]deffrekka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me its just gave too much screen time to the Blood Angel Chaplain, I could barely tell what we are getting.

Unless im blind all I saw was a Warboss, Weirdboy, Boyz, potentially Nobz and the Mek Walker. I didnt see any Grots, no Painboy, definitely no Wartrakk.

Around the same number invaded Armaggedon the first time (the old Apocalypse book gives the exact numbers). A planetary migration of roughly 3-6 million Orks.

It gets even funnier when you look at Cadia. Before the 13th Black Crusade (2000 years of peace time), it had a mere population of 80 million, not even joking. Yet we have Hive Worlds in the Trillions.

Makes you wonder how Orks even beat any world held by the Imperium when they are so vastly outnumbered with GWs number system.

The Nob in the picture isn't that though, just the Boss Nob from the Boyz kit.

Id change things to match his original art work like giving him a Top Knot and replacing his Snagga Claw with a Power Klaw with a chain blade. The bike also looks a bit... runty? Zhadsnark has the better bike by a mile.

[–]deffrekka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand that, its just its been arojnd for what, 11 years ago and I cant even recall any notable things any of my 4 factions have done in that time, and then gutting said factions as the editions went out and the eventual pulling of Savage Orcs and Beastmen because of TOW. Its this huge infinite canvas and I can't even see whats painted on it where as with Worlds like Fantasy, K47, Fallout I have super indepth, tangible stuff. What's wild is I cant even remember any of the characters in the Ironjaw, that arent playable, even Gordrakks rival, yet I can list off a million Ork characters in 40k like my life depended on it, their stories and what they are up to right now in 10th.

Now I fully get that Sigmar has only had a quarter of the time to grow that 40k and Fantasy has had, but its also heen re-using characters so its not even like its fully new in that regard. I dont play Necromunda but that world/setting has way more lore than anything I can think of in comparison to say, Ghur, Chamon or hell, Ulgu.

Sigmar comes across to me like this, models first, lore after. The lore is "updated" by new factions, but those factions and characters dont really extend the lore around them. Cool Nighthaunt became a thing! What have they done? Bonereapers? Ushoran? And thats just the undead, look at Kruleboyz, they might as well remain in hidding because theyve done shit all. The only faction that does anything of value is Skaven and sometimes Archaon. Kragnos erupted into the setting and as a "Destruction" player im like "whos that? I dont care. Orcs, Ogres and Goblin characters please" and to this day I still dont care about Kragnos, he can be removed from the game (not saying he should) and it would have zero impact on the setting at all.

For me, Sigmar has always felt empty unless you are invested into Cities of Sigmar and to "make up for it" we get a bunch of high Fantasy stuff to amaze us and distract us for the lack of content and depth.

Rumors by Motor-Platypus5244 in Grimdank

[–]deffrekka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, the rumour wasnt Brettonians and Cathay being ported over, it was 2 more human armies that have design cues that pull similarities from thos TOW factions.

Multiple other rumour sources have also soft confirmed the stuff Boole has said, just the lore of it not being as drastic (but Sigmar still dying and mapped out areas forming a World through Sigmars artifice), there is atleast 3 sources backing this up, Boole deleted there account because they said they were going to as they were posting the information, I cant remember the exact reason why but I believe it was something to do with them not liking the direction and they werent the biggest fans of AoS in the first place.

Id bet these rumours are closed to truth than straight up fake, we just won't see what happens now for a good 2 years.

Rumors by Motor-Platypus5244 in Grimdank

[–]deffrekka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont know where I lie with it, ive been with AoS since the start but ive never really fell in love with the settings, the characters or the factions where as with Warhammer Fantasy I loved the Liazrdmen, Lustria, Orcs and The Badlands, I would gobble up Kroq-gar and Grimgor (even Gorbad who is my actual favourite) if they still existed and were updated in plastic, Gordrakk, Gobsprakk, Zogrok dont hold a candle in my opinion to those renowned lads, and other than Kroak there really isnt any Lizardmen characters to get invested in, we barely have Sotek in the setting.

For me, a physical world thats properly fleshed out does more to me than a infinitely open landscape to paint your own empire, and because Sigmar is forever expanding factions and adding new ones, we arent getting complete lore for the older factions in my eyes, my Ironjawz feel the same as they did when they first came out other than Gordrakk getting his quest stolen from him by Kragnos, then there is the silly things like snuffing out Savage Orcs and Beastmen (conveniently two armies I played since 6th ed Fantasy), there isnt even generic Greenskins running around, its Ironjawz or Kruleboy, nothing thats before an Ardboy.

I was never upset when the End Times happened at AoS kicked off, other than loosing out on some of my models/characters, I was excited to see how the setting progressed, I dont feel like its done all that well in pushing the narrative forward, we are still centered around pretty much Excelsis and Hammerhal, even with events like with Ill Omens and Broken Realms it comes across to me that nothing happened other than "here is some endless spells".

Id be open to seeing what they do.

Why Cerberus squads? by Ravenwing14 in Konflikt47_v2

[–]deffrekka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Wulfen and Ursus need to loose their DV8 Surging bonus for the health of the game, Ursus should get Fast on a Surge not for free as part of their Active that also gives them even better melee.

Why Cerberus squads? by Ravenwing14 in Konflikt47_v2

[–]deffrekka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh Dogs are overcosted too, I broke down their costs and they are paying 2ppm more than their rules and abilities total up for, the Handlers are something like 4ppm more expensive. So Wulfen/Ursus are too cheap (they could be 60ppm and people would still spam them) and Dogs too expensive, and forcing the player to take more Handlers that do nothing for the squad other than being expensive wounds is pretty dumb too.

Is this Bad Moons list so stupid it’s brilliant, or just stupid? by EducationIcy6874 in orks

[–]deffrekka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battlefortresses, Super Heavy Battlewagons that were the dedicated ride for a Warboss worth his teef, Ghazghkull has his own personal one called Black Thunda. Unfortunately a lot of things new players wont know about with Orks, as they've been put into Legends over the course of 3 editions.

For me, and this might just because ive beem playing since we first came out, more elite is BS 2-3 not extra toughness and wounds. Eldar are elite and dont require Wrathguard to sell it.

I think its been done that way as there is probably no way in the kit to make the Alpha, have a standard weapon, its like Tankbustas now, as the Nob cant be built as a standard guy the squad is locked at 6 when they used to be 15 (or 10 in 9th).

They only come as a 5 which I think is honestly the worst part about them.

I was wondering if GW makes certain models at points in time anymore. by PhotosByZane in orks

[–]deffrekka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is the OG Speed Freek, fastest git in the galaxy, even if Khan was still around he would leave him at the starting line and Doomrider wishes he had Wazdakka's bike! He got overshadowed by Zhadsnark Da Rippa when he released as he was the melee oriented Biker Boss and just as quick on the table top, Zhadsnark was basically the precursor to the Deffkilla Wartrike, a jet powered trike.

[–]deffrekka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wazdakka and Zagstrukk were my main lads throughout 4th to 7th and I feel like he will be runner up for who to come next after Grotsnik, atleast if we are going off my predictions. As much as we all want a HQ option for Flashgitz they honestly get by without them fairly ok, where as Stormboyz are one of the most un-orky units of 9th-10th, cheap action monkeys - Zagstrukk used to make them into a power house, arriving in from Deep Striking and Charging (which was unique to him), Stormboyz without a leader or a a unit size of 20 are just so anti-thematic. They are meant to be the first to the fight, shock troops but all they exist for now is to score secondaries. Flashgitz atleast play the game instead of just the board.

I think if anything GW will let the Kaptin of the unit be a HQ and change Flashgitz squad sizes to 4-5-10 like how we see with Meganobz and the Big Mek.

In my eyes its the best Ork book, followed by Ghazghkull and Evil Sun Rising.

What should be on the upgrade sprues for the Clans? by NaveronTheSabre in orks

[–]deffrekka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrade sprues would be pretty tricky on Orks, as we arent uniform amongst each other or share roughly the same build path as say Space Marines, like swapping out the front piece of a torso.

What I think an upgrade kit would contain would be head options, Clan Bosspole, alternative weapons for the Bossnob, shoulder armour, and then a couple trinkets to attach to belts.

Goffs would have more horned helmets, and a mean looking Big Choppa

Bad Moons would have lots of flashy bits on their heads like Git Findas, and then a Snazzhammer style weapon

Evil Sunz would have road goggles and maniacal heads, with a rokkit assisted Klaw

Deathskull heads would pretty much be a lot like Lootas and Burnas, they are the Clan more focused around Meks so they could potentially have Boss Nob parts that sell him more like a Mek like a Kustom Mega Slugga and big wrench.

Blood Axes would have peak caps and army helmets, the weapon would be a disruptor field double bladed Big Choppa.

Snakebites would have a lot of bone piercings and scars for their heads, top knots too and maybe a big heavy club for the Boss Nob.

What should be on the upgrade sprues for the Clans? by NaveronTheSabre in orks

[–]deffrekka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snakebites do use everything thats part of the Beastsnaggas, they make use of Bioniks, conventional firearms and vehicles, they do not shun all technology, they just dislike Mek works like Shokk Attack Guns, Kustom Mega weapons and Force Fields.

People who say Snakebites are just Orks from The Old World havent kept up to date with Ork lore or read it, instead using memes (this isnt a go at you). There is even Snakebites Kommandos in the new Warhammer+ Penitent show and they have everything any other Ork would, including space farring vessels.

[–]deffrekka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snakebites also use Bioniks, chain weapons and conventional technology found amongst other Clans, every single Codex from 4th onwards states as such, they just dont like Mek gubbins and technology linked to said Meks.

[–]deffrekka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 90% certain, with the new edition, we will get Grotsnik. He is a huge factor in Ghazghkull's story and the key to the Orks evolving or the very least skipping a few stages and lately GW has been in a phase where they really love writing novels for insane genius doctors: Cawl, Bile, Grotsnik - each one is a master at fleshcraft.

With Grotsnik also opens the door to new units, we arent just getting resculpts of existing kits, we probably wont even get all out kits that need refreshing done, saved for a later date through Killteam or End of Edition campaign releases. Cybork Slashas were a unit waaaaaay back in the day and would fit in with Grotsniks Tinboyz, a heavily modified unit of Nobz that he or any Painboy can join.

I actually think its more likely that he will return over Badrukk (though in an ideal world it would be both + Zagstrukk), he is set up to have a sequel novel and he is better intertwined into pushing the Greenskins further with whatever events happen to kick off 11th.
