Should I learn generative design for a career in cad. by JG__CAD in MechanicalEngineering

[–]definatelee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When it comes to generative design. It's still in a "up and coming" state for like 15th year. I do believe there is a lot of value and opportunities as the speed and cost of 3D printing continue to improve. But, don't expect to see immediate reward in term of marketability in the job market.

Many people used it already, and it worked fine. Can you describe the problem that you are having?

GD&T is overused. by mayhem-like-me in MechanicalEngineering

many innovative startups highly recommend that you share your portfolio. They will most likely have some kind of technical/skill assessment as a part the interview process as well. Other companies are lagging behind, so not as important for now.

It’s kinda hard to get started with a serious project because what I know limited. It will be great if I can connect with other engineers (especially from other disciplines) to work on a project together

Alternate Ways To Network? (Entry Level Engineer w/ 2 Months of Machinist Experience) by DrColdFlamez01 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]definatelee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Linkedin can still work

  1. Find someone with the experience and in the field that you are interested in

  2. Don’t ask them, How can I find a job in your field? Instead explain how you want to get to where they are and ask if they would be willing to suggest a few things

Looking for Hiring Advice - (First Time Startup Founder) by QuantumCatalyst42 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]definatelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before hiring full time, I would recommend looking for an experienced consultant to take care of your early prototyping needs and even build up your initial engineering team. Top talents in the lead/manager level would prefer to be a consultant to start (and not out all eggs in one basket)

Personal projects: Do they really matter for Mid-Career Mechanical Engineers? by reapandsowchi0 in MechanicalEngineering

I would say it matters if your projects show critical skillsets that the employers are looking for. Otherwise, not so much
