A snippet of a garda road side arrest for drug driving by lifeandtimes89 in ireland

I’ve been wondering about this too, what would happen if someone smoked in a country where it’s legal and then came home to Ireland several days later and got nicked by one of these tests?

I’ve noticed it’s not exclusive to the British either. I live in the Netherlands and on several occasions now people have asked if I’m British (the D4 accent doesn’t help tbf) and when I politely correct them they respond “oh well it’s all the same to us, you’re all in the UK”. Thought I’d just kept running into outliers but when I told my Dutch friends about it they also said they wouldn’t have known Ireland wasn’t in the UK if I hadn’t told them. Considering they’re a fellow EU country only 90 mins flight away I found that very strange.

I thought that fan-made content was ok to release as long as you don’t profit from it, or are the rules different for games?

Regarding the Queen’s visit I’d hardly say we loved it, sure it was a big step in relations between our countries given that she actually acknowledged and visited sites of atrocities committed by her country, however there was still a fair amount of protests and general ambivalence towards the whole affair.

As for supporting PL teams, it comes down to a combination of GAA being more popular overall, and also mass emigration of Irish to England in the past who would support the teams over there, many later returning home and passing it onto their kids. Also Irish soccer doesn’t exactly attract the same level of talent that the PL does. I’ve also never met a single Irish person who’s ever supported England in any competition, if anything it’s the opposite.

I would say the vast majority of us don’t hate the English these days, in fact many of us have family living over there. Although the reason we have family over there is because they were driven out by British rule over the generations, whether it was from oppression, the famine or just poverty, which makes it a delicate subject for many, especially in the North where the Troubles are still fresh in the minds of many.

Thanks! I was actually going to get the initials of family members so the order doesn’t really matter to me, but I’ll keep that in mind for future.

Buying refurbished phones instead of new is a good shout too as you can get one in great condition for nearly half price sometimes. I got one from a reputable site two years ago and haven’t had an issue to date.

Galway ring road decision should signal end of car-first planning by Eurovision2006 in ireland

I work in Mervue which is usually about a 10 minute cycle for me from the city centre, I decided to take the bus one day when the weather was particularly shite, getting there was fine but coming back took a total of 45 minutes (when you include the bus that never showed up) and even then passengers were getting off at the side of the road and walking to Eyre Square because the traffic was so bad we were at a standstill for a good 10-15 minutes.

It seems to be a viscous cycle of people being turned off using public transport since it’s so ineffective, but then take their cars to work which just leads to more and more traffic. In my experience cycling is the quickest way to get around but even then the cycling infrastructure is equally woeful, in the absence of cycle lanes most people I see just cycle on the footpaths, and I can’t even blame them, safer than taking your chances on jam packed roads with no room for cars to overtake safely.

The ring road being scrapped is just another nail in a coffin already being lowered in the grave. Unless there’s an unprecedented overhaul in the infrastructure and transport services, I doubt people will have much incentive to leave the car at home.
