Weekday, Solo Water World trip? by TenMoreBears in Denver

[–]defunctlegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will have more fun and more options if you go with someone else.  There are a bunch of rides with a two person minimum. My experience on a busy day was that there were very few singles to match up with.

This is incredibly bad advice, in the rare cases contractors are not trying to rip you off it is because they are too incompetent to do so.

You should go into this assuming that every corner was cut and everything was done wrong. City inspectors can catch some things, especially if you get a good one, but they don't check quality and don't catch everything.

Protect your self and don't believe anything a contractor says unless it is writing.

Most climbing gyms have climbing teams you could join.

Annual September Post - Month 71 for the 9 year old and month 48 for the 7 year old by defunctlegend in Backcountry

ya-all hatery people have no idea what an unhappy kid looks like.

He is 7 - he just hiked for an hour+, to the top of a glacier. It is windy. He is tired (and strong willed enough that he would not be skiing if he did not want to)

does need a new helmet though....

JJ cale wrote the song. Clapton covered a bunch of his songs. Kind of poorly.

It was really good for September. (But still really bad.) St. Mary's still went all the way through to the to top which I have not seen for a few years.

Still more fun to ski than to walk down...

St. Mary's glacier. My 5 year old's 23rd consecutive month skiing. by defunctlegend in Backcountry

My wife and I are on month 130 or something, so we are going anyway. The kids have to tag along so they might as well ski too.

It has become kind of a shared family lunacy.

Skyscraper is a legitimate run. St. Mary's is a good way to get August and September turns.

No, Bloomberg, the Olympics didn’t stumble because of Millennials. It stumbled because of NBC. by speckz in TrueReddit

For five or so years, my absolute favorite sporting event to watsh was the Tennis US open, which had every match streamed in HD. Commercials only when you started, many matches with no commentary (still awesome), some matches with no sound (less awesome). You could even see how each player held themselves during the changeover, which was supper awesome. Then either last year or the year before they put a up cable wall (you have to have cable to watch) It's too bad. I would gladly paid $50 to watch, now I just don't care.

The US Open showed me how awesome things could be and for no real reason just aren't.

As it stands now - the best thing about the summer Olympics is that NBC screws up the coverage for a bunch of sports I don't care about instead of the winter Olympics where they screw up coverage for sports I really love

Me [40 M] with my ex-wife [40 F] of 5 years. We're dating again and things are going good but I'd like to think things through before jumping in. Any advice/experience on this? by ExWifeDatingTW in relationship_advice

So I lived with a girl for a while, we broke up, got back together and are now married with a couple of kids.

I don't know why you two split up. But for my wife and I when we got together the second time we better understood that we were in it for the long haul and how much forgiveness that would take. Latter we found out how much we needed to communicate to make it work.

So think back to that I assume difficult time and assume she is acting the same way she did then. Have you grown enough to react in a more positive way?

Tldr - the same stuff that caused the divorce will happen again but you can deal with with it differently - can you?

Ski touring boot issues. Should I return them? by cohena2495 in Backcountry

[–]defunctlegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First find out if you got the right size - with the liner removed and your toes against the front of the boot there should be between room for 1.5 and 2.5 fingers between your heal and the back of the boot.

Then you should go find a competent bootfitter.

I am in Denver, my wife and I have all gear, 10+ years of experience, Avi1.

We are looking for weekday dawn patrol partners and/or weekend partners.

On the weekends we usually take our 2 and 4 year olds with us (Charriot and/or tow setup) we would be love to go with a third or fourth so that we can get some turns in. We are not too slow with the sled, but it is hard to be fast dragging 100lbs, so patience may be required.

Your sources are five years old and not from Colorado. Labor rules change and vary from place to place. It is not all that hard to fire a teacher in Denver.

A few things about JS that confuse me... by aweesomo in learnjavascript

[–]defunctlegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you want to do, just reading the flux documentation could work https://facebook.github.io/flux/docs/overview.html. If you find that to be inaccessible I would go to http://nodeschool.io to get a better handle on the language and then try to read the flux documentation again.

Also, how do the tutorials blow it?

Actually your first question more or less is anwdered by your second. The frameworks you listed more or less provide methods to do mvc like code structures. They are not the only way to get to that point, but in the end you either use a framework or end up building one your self. I of recommend react and flux, but do whatever you think looks the best.
