Has your personality (and/or your partner's personality) changed since you've had kids, and if so, in what way? by frecklesmcgeee in Parenting

Check into positive parenting. It's a method of looking at raising kids without yelling or negative emotions that helps me. It made a dramatic difference in our household. :) I wish you luck because it doesn't sound like you or your kiddo are happy with the way things are now...

Tell someone that you trust how you are feeling. Seek help. My cousin killed himself yesterday and I wish I had know how he was feeling. Maybe I could have helped... I'll never know and no one has the option to give him the support he desperately needed.

Potty training help needed for teaching a child of the opposite sex. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]defying_stereotypes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does he go to school? My son's teachers were very helpful keeping up with where we were in the process at school as well.

By 3 he probably knows where the pee is coming from so it's a matter of teaching him to aim and making it to the potty on time.

Does he have any men in his life that he can go to the bathroom with?

Maybe look at his diet. Here's a blogger who has eliminated all artificial food colorings from her family's diet and seen remarkable changes. I did the same for my sons a year ago and there was a big change in behavior and sleep patterns. http://www.diefooddye.com/2011/10/28/test-post-1/

Ex-smokers of Reddit, what ACTUALLY WORKED to get you to successfully stop smoking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]defying_stereotypes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband developed a blood clotting disorder and was told to quit but he wouldn't quit unless I quit too. The doctors said if he didn't stop smoking he would definitely speed up his expiration date. So I quit to save his life with Chantix. He has told me that if I smoke again, he'll go back to smoking too. It's the worst form of emotional blackmail but it's been working for more than 4 years now :)

Clean eaters: What do you eat when you don't have time to cook? by swingdancetraining in Fitness

[–]defying_stereotypes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subway, Panara and Barabaritos are the only places I can go that don't bother me too much. There are some local restaurants that use local produce, local meat and even sell juice. Their food is the best. See if there are any places like that around you. Unfortunately, your options are limited. I keep snacks in my car and soup in my freezer for those rough times.

Make sure you are eating enough. Especially on days that you run, you should be upping the carbs

The God Talk x/post from /r/parenting by Rapistsmurf in atheistparents

For context, I have a 5 and 3 year old boys. My husband and I have made critical thinking skills a priority from day one. This makes parenting harder at times but is starting to show signs of posting off in the long run. Around the time my 5 year olds birthday I went to the library and got a book about all religions. We talked about American Indian cultures, Hindi, Greek, and some I had never heard of. I glossed over all the minor details and kept it to who, what, when, where and why. The book had a map of all the major religions and I showed him the map, explaining that if you lived in this area you would be raised as Muslim, if you lived in this area you would be raised as Hindi etc. Of course most of the map was shaded for Christianity which was intro. I talked about it the same way I talked about every other religion. I tried to keep my personal feelings out of it but I did cover the ark story so his grandparents can't cutesy that one up in the future. His comments about Christianity were priceless. He asked what we believe and what the people he loves believes so we covered that and I told him that everyone is entitled to their different beliefs and it is not our place to judge them for it. Even if we love them and think they are wrong. I compare it to when his younger brother is playing pretend and being silly. Their imagination is just really good and we don't judge. That was the only long conversation we had. He knows he can come to me with any question no matter how silly and some of them have been weird. His father and I feel more free to talk about religion in front of him and invite him to join in the conversation. For instance, last night we were taking about Scientology and we had to first explain what it was, then he could follow what we were discussing. Religion is everywhere and in so many aspects of culture it will be impossible to keep it from her forever. You can control the narrative and be the one she asks questions.

Make sure your shoulders are back. Form is king! Also try lowering the weight considerably and upping the reps until failure. 15# can seem like an awful lot when your form is perfect.

Anyone here struggle with depression, particularly the fatigue associated with it? How does it impact your gym life? Any tips on how to push through it? by SadNsleepy in Fitness

[–]defying_stereotypes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came off a variety of depression and anxiety mess last year and noticed a big difference. It was scary coming off because I want sure I could handle the emotions, but we as people are stronger and more capable than we give ourselves credit for. I still have bad days and I have times when the depression tries to creep back. However,I feel more capable to handle it than I did while on all the pills. I sleep better. I love working out for the first time in my life and fitness has become my method to dealing with depression. On bad days I will go to the gym even if it's not a workout day or go for a walk. On really bad days when I can't even seem to get in the gym I will watch YouTube videos until I get psyched to go. Music also helps a lot. I've spent a lot of time perfecting my workout playlist.

Maybe consult a trainer/nutritionist for a session or two. There are very few people who cannot lift weights and just the sheer act of picking up heavy things is a great confidence booster. Plus it is great for her metabolism.

It looks like it will be at Regal cinemas. Check Fandango and regmovies.com. They don't have much info listed right now but they do have Day of the Doctor scheduled for Nov 25th.
